Though Israeli Tactical School's modern indoor range facility for professionals often welcomes police officers, the instructors here are particularly skilled at working with the general public. Owner and instructor Tomer saw combat as a former Israeli special forces member, and also served in the Shin-Biet (Israeli Secret Service) in embassies around the world. At Israeli Tactical School's tactical training classes, students are provided with the most up-to-date training for skill levels from beginners to law enforcement special units, combining elements of hand-to-hand combat and shooting scenarios, including firing while on the move. To enhance their students' training, the instructors set up several attack scenarios during each class.

Alexander C. Nnabue knows that caring for eyes is really about caring for people. After earning doctor of optometry degrees from both Imo State University in Nigeria and the Pennsylvania College of Optometry, Dr. Nnabue found his own company to help restore patients' ocular health. What began in 1994 as a single storefront has blossomed into six Visual Eyes locations throughout the Washington, DC metropolitan area. Today, the caring doctor leads biannual medical mission trips to Africa, including one trip that, according to a 2006 Nigeria World article, put thousands of eyeglasses and medications in the hands of those in need.
At Visual Eyes, he and his fellow optometrists use advanced technology to diagnose and treat various conditions. A trained technician manufactures lenses at an in-house lab, and Dr. Nnabue specializes in orthokeratology, a vision-correcting process that eliminates the need to wear glasses, contacts, or a sign that says, "Sorry for walking into you; I forgot my contacts or glasses." The team also prides itself on showcasing the latest designer frames, including Marc by Marc Jacobs, Kate Spade, and Guess.
A.T.C. Flight Training Center has guided fledgling pilots through the skies with FAA-certified instruction since 1991, emphasizing good judgment, quick decision making, and practical skill. With approval from the Secret Service and FBI, and permission slips signed by their mothers, the seasoned instructors teach their flight courses in an airborne classroom high above the Potomac River. They lay out a clear path for students to earn FAA private-pilot certification through classroom lectures, hands-on flight instruction, and the Jeppesen ground and flight syllabus. Flight lessons aboard the center's two Cessna 172 planes cover basic flight techniques, such as fending off territorial weather balloons, before moving on to jaunts to other airports, night flying, and more advanced skills.
Already experienced pilots can instead embark on leisurely trips in a Cessna 182, outfitted with GPS navigation and autopilot. At the center's shop, staffers further outfit pilots with headsets, charts, and approach plates, as well as ASA training materials, aviation books, and films about flight.
The car-care crew at VIP Auto Appearance, winner of the 2007 Steve Harvey Hoodie Award for Best Car Wash, roll out sparkling rides from their Clinton shop. The father-son founders and their team of techs wash and detail vehicles inside and out and fit windows with tinted films to block harmful sunbeams and keep upholstery from fading or seeking jobs as patio furniture. VIP also pipes iPod tunes into rides through static-free stereo cables, installs ignition interlock systems, and coordinates interiors with custom seat covers.
