In 1991, Home Grown Edible Landscaping owner Janie Malloy stood on her new back porch staring at a dirt patch and one lonely elm tree and saw only opportunity. After gathering supplies and burying the magic beans a wizard gave her, she quickly transformed the barren swathe of land into an eye-catching garden and a business. Today, Janie shares and develops the skills she cultivated in the early 90s. She still grows her own sustainable fruits and vegetables on land surrounding her 100-year-old bungalow and now teaches classes on gardening, pickling, and healthy eating. When she's not tending to her small field, she acts as a horticultural architect, designing fetching, intricate home gardens. The vibrant outdoor landscapes liven up backyards with hearty greens, fire-engine red peppers, and giant Venus Fly Traps that ward off gleaners.
Whether one is gardening indoors, outdoors, in the yard, or up the chimney, the very act of nurturing nature helps to secure a healthier world for the earth and its citizens. Living up to their namesake, The Green Future specializes in all of the tools, seeds, lights, hydroponics, and fertilizers needed to keep internal and external gardens blossoming.
Armed with an arsenal of eco-friendly equipment, including the Rotovac 360i, Clean Carpets USA's certified technicians purify home interiors throughout the greater Portland area. The exclusively green-rated equipment and Procyon cleaning solutions protect clients' well-being with toxin-, allergen-, and gremlin-free formulas. Despite its carpet-centric name, the company also specializes in cleaning and disinfecting air ducts, upholstery, mattresses, tiles, and grout.
In repairing and installing furnaces, air conditioners, and air-filtration systems, technicians on the 24/7 Heating & Cooling team are helping keep homes' air comfortable and clean. But when clients enlist the team's services, they're directly contributing to helping a disadvantaged family stay warm this winter by becoming part of the shop's free furnace program. This dedication to their work and community informs every repair, replacement, and tune-up they perform, which is why homeowners rely on 24/7 when the seasons change or they get a garden-gnome infestation in the vents.
