Kidstarz International Academy of Creative Arts' staff believes learning shouldn't stop when the school bell rings. Instructors aim to inspire kids with engaging classes that focus on a variety of subjects, from painting to sculpting, foreign languages to dance. Instead of distributing textbooks and teaching from behind a desk, they get kids involved in the lesson, encouraging them to get their hands dirty with paint or create silly sentences in Spanish in order to increase the likelihood that they'll retain their new skills and spread the word to their stuffed animals when they get home. Adults can also get in on the learning by enrolling in Big K Studios craft classes that teach students sewing, painting, and jewelry-making techniques.
Korrie's Pilates Place’s founder, Korrie Sudweeks, channels her experience as a personal trainer and former gymnast into an entire spectrum of wellness services, including yoga, Pilates, massage, chiropractic medicine, and skincare. Her classes adhere to the philosophies of Hatha yoga, which carefully ties breath to movement in slow-paced flow or heart-pumping power-yoga sessions. Pilates veers down a different path to fitness, employing mats or equipment such as reformers, Wunda chairs, and the Barrel to strengthen and tone the core muscles that buttress spines and tricornered hats. Large mirrors reflect students’ progress against the backdrop of lime-green walls and hardwood floors.
To combat the common excuse of the busy schedule, Cutting Edge Kettlebells doesn't offer classes on a fixed schedule. Instead, they offer open gym hours for guests to drop in at their convenience and make use of the kettlebells. This flexibility is afforded to guests who have already mastered the kettlebell workout's basic movements, ensuring that students can exercise at their own pace while using proper form. In addition to the adult workouts, the expert trainers also lead youth programs to help youngsters integrate fitness into their lives.
Cutting Edge Kettlebells cites the kettlebell's history as a workout tool for Russian special ops, the FBI's hostage rescue team, and the military's elite as evidence to its effectiveness. Exercises using this cannonball-like iron weight work-out several muscle groups at the same time, resulting in an efficient training that produces stronger, leaner bodies.
Located on the entertainment-rich grounds of the Lake Perris Fairgrounds, the Perris Auto Speedway has housed an 8,000-seat temple to transmissions and high-octane action since 1996. When the half-mile clay oval track hosts the Sokola Shootout––with USAC/CRA Sprint cars and California Lighting Sprints––it will be a night full of roaring engines, fast laps, and the manly musk of combustion-engine fumes. Races feature a field of open-wheeled automobiles piloted by drivers protected only by their wits and a roll cage.
Alias Movement Center's instructors back up their dance steps with impressive résumés. Natalia Morales has performed at famous events such as the MTV Movie Awards, and she holds a master's degree in education with an emphasis in dance. Alexis A. Weisbrod, meanwhile, got a bachelor's degree in dance from the University of Minnesota and then grapevined on to obtain a PhD in critical dance studies from UC Riverside. At Alias Movement Center, they teach adult students of all experience levels in classes such as ballet and contemporary.
