Lauren Taylor lives in an orbit around the camera. As a teenager, she modeled in front of the lens. She later attended the Institute of Studio and Makeup Design, after which she would collaborate with photographers behind the camera. Lauren eventually gravitated to the camera itself, which she now wields with aplomb in her own photography studio. Here, her life-long experience and education converge in the work of shooting sumptuous and striking images.
Thanks to her time in the sights of the camera eye, Lauren has a particular way of making subjects feel comfortable. She especially enjoys sessions with other women, documenting expectant mothers or capturing sensual boudoir portraits. Otherwise, Lauren's newborn shoots capture babies in their most innocent state, before they learn to talk or knit a ski-mask. Lauren still exercises her eye for fashion, snapping stills for advertisements and industry headshots. She also documents weddings, taking a photojournalistic approach to event photography by capturing candid moments and emotional milestones.
Growing up, photographs were an important part of Bill Keane’s life. His parents prized portrait photography and snapped photos of Bill as a baby and on their family vacations. In his early 20s, these photos served as a way of reconnecting with his parents after their passing. He went on to hone his shutter savvy by working out of his college dorm room to take wedding photos in 1968. Today, the art of photography has evolved immensely—but Bill's love of telling stories through images has endured.
Bill and his staff of seasoned professionals expertly capture family memories during photo sessions. Their specialties include Baby Steps pictures to chronicle young ones' first years, family photos to record rare acts of family members remaining still, and senior portraits to commemorate high-school years.
Spotlight Studios might as well be the Justice League of the photography business. After three years of running the business solo, fashion specialist Kyla sent out the call for seasoned shutterbugs. She was answered by Priscilla, Aly, Kristina, and Julio, all of whom now contribute to the creative melting pot. Kyla brings expertise from her studies in fashion photography, during which she mentored under the renowned Roxanne Lowit. Priscilla also focuses on fashion, airbrushing over oblivious third wheels in her meticulous postproduction work. As a model now standing on the other side of the lens, Aly is the authority on posing and composition. Julio strives to encapsulate power and action in his sports and water shots, and graphic designer Kristina embraces whimsy, comedy, and the surreal in her editorial features.
The quintet brings this talent pool to shoots for weddings, family portraits, newborns, and modeling portfolios. The photographers welcome clients into a sunlit studio or travel to scenic locales, including La Jolla Cove and Balboa Park. The four ladies also take sultry snapshots for boudoir compilations, framing subjects against sunlit sheets, posh Victorian wallpaper, and gritty urban backgrounds.
