Tara Jones takes a picture every day, whether she’s working or not. This passion for aesthetic excellence landed her at the Brooks Institute, and her restless ambition led her to open Flare Productions a year before graduating. In the decade since, Tara has composed stunning shots of the Californian landscape, documented countless weddings, and captured the smiles of subjects lit by both natural light or the natural shine of teeth that’ve mistakenly gnawed on glow sticks.

Tara shares her infectious enthusiasm with the clients she shoots and the students she teaches. During introductory workshops, she elegantly explains how to manipulate manual camera settings to enhance the story woven into every still image. She also takes time to answer any questions that students may have in regard to printing or eating photos.

Dream Music Studios provides a creative outlet for students after school. Led by experienced instructors, kids can hone their singing skills, brush up on music theory, or learn the chords, scales, and theory necessary to play piano, guitar, bass, or violin. Lessons also teach styles including classical and jazz, playing by ear, music history and recording, and reading musical notation. Lessons can be conducted at the studio, in students' homes, or via Skype. In addition, pupils have the chance to show off their chops at numerous performance opportunities throughout the year, including competitions, traditional recitals, and rock concerts at area venues.

Anthem Music Lessons is the brainchild of two passionate rockers: Phil Ernst, a Musicians Institute of Technology grad and professional guitarist, and his protégé, Jared Canchola. Along with a staff of other touring and professional musicians, they lead lessons for students of all abilities in a variety of instruments, including guitar, bass, voice, piano, drums, strings, brass, and music theory. They tailor each lesson to the individual’s skill level, emphasizing proper musicianship and music creation. After first discovering photography in Manhattan, Xenia Berg globe trots to where the work takes her, currently residing in Germany. Her work and travels occasionally take her back to LA, to collaborate with her friend and active commercial photographer Bryan Alano. Bryan takes time away from clients such as Citibank, Roxy, and Lifestyle Magazine to share insights into lifestyle and wedding photography. Students benefit from Xenia and Bryan's wealth of commercial experience, learning how to navigate lighting instruments, digitally touch-up documents, and reward well-behaved models with caviar-flavored dog biscuits.

A gallery of masterpieces showcases stunningly virtuosic renderings—which are especially impressive considering they were created by kids. While fostering a friendly, cheerful atmosphere, instructors teach classical art skills to classes of up to 12 students at a time. During weekly classes, the skilled instructors demonstrate how to realistically illustrate animals, figures, and still-life scenes using traditional media. "Creativity follows mastery" is the KidsArt philosophy, so they designed the sort of program they imagine the old masters would have approved. Planting graphite sticks and paintbrushes in pupils' hands, instructors teach color mixing, show students how to break an image into its component parts, and instill necessary behaviors such as focus and patience. Programs include individualized drawing and painting lessons and special-topic workshops, such as clay sculpture, figure drawing, and Anime/cartooning.
