Teamwork and positive attitudes. Strong work ethics, good morals, and keen focus. They're all components of strong character, and they're all instrumental to the dance and cheer classes at Lisa's Dance Spot. Here, upbeat instructors lead lessons in styles from ballet and funk jazz to tumbling, hip-hop, and cheer. Working with kids as young as 2 years, they instill confidence early in tiny dancers, eliminating the phrase "I can't" from their vocabulary. For students interested in pursuing their passion for dance past simple lessons, they also organize dance groups and cheer squads that perform at community events throughout Metro Atlanta.
Former professional driver and expert instructor Randy Baker and his team have been guiding drivers toward greatness for more than 20 years; past pupils include Jeff Gordon, Tony Stewart, Jeff and Ward Burton, and the shadowy pit mechanic known only as Racer X. At SpeedTech Auto Racing School, Randy combines a fleet of super-speedy rides—authentic, metal-bodied vehicles boasting 650-horsepower V-8 engines—with a serious emphasis on safety to prepare drivers for any mishap on the track. Gearheads, speed junkies, and people who still sleep in a racecar bed despite their adult children's protestations soak up Randy's knowledge during one of SpeedTech's many race programs, varying in length from 3 laps to more than 100. With the school's built-in HD video feeds, drivers can commemorate their laps or prove to the family car it's been cheating on them with the hotel's valet.
Love Me Knot is more than your average bridal show?it's a wedding itself. Literally. Lucky winners Mike and Keyanna are getting married in luxurious finery, and sharing in the experience will be all the wedding specialists who made it possible, and a host of spouses-to-be looking for a similar experience. That means that if a bride falls head over heels with Keyanna's gown, she can quiz the designer about it (and if it's not her taste, there are plenty of other options to peruse), and if it's the bouquets that catch her fancy, florist Tony Brewer will be right there to answer any questions. Other exhibitors and sponsors include Ivory Bridal & Formal, Daisy's Desserts, and All About Honeymoons & Destination Weddings.
Established in 1982, Kennesaw State's athletics program first competed in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics. In the mid-90s, the Owls migrated to the NCAA, where they claimed 7 Division II championships in activities as diverse as men's basketball, cheerleading, and women's soccer. Just as a real owl hones its night vision until it stops stubbing its talons on branches, the school continued its ascent until it joined the Division I Atlantic Sun Conference, netting two national tournament appearances in women's soccer as well as championships in men's track and field and women's cross-country.
Allyn Glover, the mastermind behind 13 Stories Haunted House, began testing his friends’ courage at the age of 13, when he constructed a homemade haunted trail. Since then, he has fine-tuned his scaring capabilities with the help of animatronics, elaborate sets, quality makeup, and a cast of actors. At 13 Stories Haunted House—which features old elevators that send visitors plummeting down all 13 floors—the aim is to turn visitors' hair white, much like when someone switches your shampoo with a big bottle of whiteout. On the off chance the house doesn’t do the trick, the Big Top Secret in 3D outdoor attraction attempts to scare guests with horror-filled images brought to life with the magic of 3-D glasses.
