Heather of Heather Swanner Photography has had a passion for photography since she was 16, but it was only when she became a mother that she truly understood the importance of immortalizing everyday life. She puts her maternal experience and her 18 years as a photographer into every shot she takes, working with clients on location during weddings and family portraits. To help pass on her love of the art, she leads students of all levels through lessons.

In the rural community where photographer Rusty Worden grew up, locals were fond of urging one another to "cowboy up." Ever the sparkplug, Worden coined the phrase "rocker down" as a light-hearted way of expressing his own individuality. He lent the name to his business, RockerDown Studios, where he works to channel that same independent spirit into helping clients express themselves during in-studio and on-location photo shoots.
RockerDown Studios boasts a 1,500-square-foot space, complete with sets, props, and backdrops that add life to family portraits, maternity photos, and graduation pictures. Worden also packs up his kit and travels to wedding ceremonies in order to shoot video footage and snap candid photos of the bride, groom, and guests during the festivities. He also offers design service for businesses and extends some co-op studio time to photographers in need of space and chameleons that like basking on green screens.
Starving artists can still create masterpieces on a budget thanks to Phil O'Donoghue and Kenneth Marshall. This duo opened Kuttin Edge Studios—a space where people can bring their ideas to life. Their full-size recording booth and control room equip bands and soloists with keyboards, drums, and a horde of screaming girls. While ears revel in crisp, clean sound, eyes relish photos and films made with industry-standard lighting and high-resolution cinematic cameras. Graphic designers create logos and album covers, and web designers assemble mobile-friendly sites. All of these services include assistance from industry professionals, who keep business needs and aesthetic preferences in mind.
Nikki McKenna cultivated her photographer's eye while snapping shots in Ireland, where she worked as a graphic designer. Classically trained in photography and graphic design, her eye for composition captures the beauty inherent in both natural settings and in her subjects. Most often, she's seen photographing weddings and families, always working with her clients to create the look they want. Among her special talents is an ability to perfectly position her natural backgrounds, which may include framing the moon on the horizon or using it to outshine photobombing seagulls.
The shutterbugs at Hanner Photography Studios specialize in images such as a newborn baby napping in a Santa hat or a mother and child silhouetted against a sunlit window. They blend lifestyle photography with fine-art touches—or a dash of goofiness.
