Arthur Murray Dance Studio has been a leading name in franchise dance since 1912, when the entrepreneur began selling mail-order dance lessons. Expanding his reach, he enlisted teachers to spread his signature dance lessons on first-class steamships and skyrocketed to fame in the '30s after introducing the public to such dances as the Lambeth Walk and the Big Apple. By the 1950s, Arthur and his wife, Kathryn, were hosting their own highly popular TV show on ABC, the Arthur Murray Dance Party, which ran for 12 years. Today, Arthur Murray's team prepares students for rug cutting at special events and weekend nightclub jaunts. Clients who arrive to lessons partnerless will be paired up with other classmates as the instructors assess their current skill level and make recommendations on the most appropriate program. Throughout lessons, instructors teach the foundations of two to four dances from a long list of styles that range from Latin to country-western, helping students to learn basic step patterns, timing, and the ability to lead or follow.

Dixie Twin Drive-In transports moviegoers back to the 1950s with a constantly changing selection of first-run films on two outdoor screens, one 120’ x 52’ and the other 100’ x 65’. Cars pull into the drive-in’s tree-enclosed grounds and tune into a private FM radio station, which provides the audio accompaniment to movies’ car chases, star-crossed love affairs, and alien invasions wedged awkwardly in the middle of historical biopics. The World Series of Comedy brings together a horde of more than 100 humorists from all over the country to compete for laughs and a grand prize of 37 weeks of work at comedy clubs across the nation. The competition gives audience members the pleasure of acting as judge and jury without the moral and legal gray areas of serving as executioner, allowing fans a say in which comics move on to the final showcase (panels composed of comedy bookers have the most influence in the judging process). Pick from 13 shows—three wild-card shows, eight preliminary shows, and two final rounds—each sporting a lineup of eight, 15, or, in the final showdown, three comics toiling for your approval. Having soared to the midpoint of their 2011 season with three hard-fought victories, the Dayton Flyers look to continue their ascent in the Pioneer Football League standings by defending their home turf at Welcome Stadium. The team moved to the NCAA I-AA mid-major level in 1993, earning a reputation for excellence with the second-best winning percentage in NCAA FCS football since the turn of the century and a stockpile of 11 Pioneer Football League championships to its name. Head Coach Rick Chamberlin leads the squadron of gridiron giants, frantically waving a traffic-control wand to direct footballs safely into the hands of his receivers. Redshirt freshman quarterback Will Bardo pilots the offense in his first year of action, locking onto top-tier targets such as senior wide receiver Luke Bellman. Team captain and defensive end Devon Langhorst holds down the other side of the ball, distracting quarterbacks from their play calls with fascinating anecdotes about fellow Daytonians and team namesakes Orville and Wilbur Wright.
