InStyle, People magazine, and Salt Lake magazine’s Best of the Beehive 2010 have lauded the nearly endless collection of girlie products, gifts, and accessories pouring from Got Beauty's boutique salon, petite day spa, and Sugarhouse Shop. Owner Tammy Taylor wants her guests to feel like a kid wandering through a candy store. But instead of cotton candy and gumdrops, she and her team shower clients with beauty treatments, from the full-service Bumble and bumble salon's coloring and hair-extension treatments to the intimate day spa's anti-aging facials and shellac mani-pedis. Amid the facility's boutique shop, an aisle of accessories hand-picked by the owner include Butter nail polishes, Hobo wallets, aromatic Voluspa candles, and books on how to study the Enlightenment without succumbing to its wig-centered hair culture.
As one of the Top 200 Salons in the United States as chosen by Redken and Pureology in 2011 and one-time Aesthetician of the Year according to the International Association of Aesthetics, The Shirodhara Day Spa and its owner, Eva Mileski, have a trophy case filled with more awards than Meryl Streep's attic. The cozy spa and salon creates a cottage-like atmosphere with creative décor to make guests feel relaxed and welcome for each treatment. New haircuts are born in the salon portion, and, through a pair of French doors, massage therapists and aestheticians wait to relax bodies with deep-tissue, Swedish, and other modalities or nurture complexions with facials. The Shirodhara Day Spa invites all spa guests to take a complimentary trip to the steam room to loosen up stiff muscles, sweat out toxins, and secretly open their neighbors’ junk mail.
Within the commercial bustle of the Fashion Place Mall, Studio H20 Salon's professional stylists focus on communication, taking the time for consultations with each client before styling a single strand. The clean lines and metallic accents of the salon's industrial-chic interior parallels the modern styles that depart daily on the heads of their many customers. Additionally, hair is treated to services such as dimensional coloring (Studio H20's specialty) and top-notch salon products by such brands as Bumble and bumble and K?rastase. Hair artistry is supplemented by other beauty services, such as manicures dolled out by staff at nearby nail stations and compliments from talking mirrors.
For years, Melinda Ashley would stroll past an empty storefront in downtown Salt Lake City, daydreaming that the space was a chic, contemporary salon. Today, Melinda has made that dream come true—she’s added bright polka dots to the floors once covered with dusty carpets and have accented the soft baby-blue walls with lustrous silver styling chairs. At each station, Melinda and her squadron of skilled stylists wield Bumble and bumble products as they snip, sculpt, smooth, and colorize manes. The team also waxes chins and lips, as well shapes eyebrows to prime facial canvases for professional makeup applications.
Like all Aveda salons, Landis Aveda Lifestyle Salon helps polish clients' styles with earth-friendly, naturally derived products. After opening a location in Salt Lake City in 2005, the salon has since sprouted a twin location and focused on developing serious talent. Their stylists spend 18 months in training, working their way up from apprentice to Grand Salon level, gaining experience, training, and the ability to gently comb a hibernating bear’s hair without waking it.
Next Full Service Salon's staff includes nine hair stylists and two nail technicians. At salon chairs, the stylists sculpt new 'dos, straighten strands, and add color to hair. Meanwhile, nail techs accent digits with colorful acrylics and chip-resistant Shellac.
The staff also applies makeup and waxes eyebrows.
