Over the course of 30 years, Paragon Salon has earned the trust of Charlotte's leading scalps with its salon services, especially in the realm of highlights ($90+) that add the sort of depth to hair usually found only in French existentialist salons. Paragon's wide array of services includes women's cut and style ($48+) and men's cut and style ($30+), as well as special-occasion styling ($60+). Paragon's staff of skilled follicular sculptors is also dedicated to providing clients with take-home hairstyles that can be duplicated within the comforts of their own high-security compounds using only a comb and a microwave oven.
The eight styling chairs inside Salon Twelve26 have seen their fair share of stunning makeovers. Using products from Bumble and bumble., Nioxin, and Wella, the salon's master stylist and salon educator Geoff Merritt refashions dos by cutting, coloring, and smoothing locks. Geoff comes to the salon by way of Europe and New York City, and works closely with salon owners Edward Brown and Brent Davidson to cultivate a relaxed yet professional vibe while styling and waxing away hair.

As soon as you walk into Hair Klaudt, you're immediately aware that this is not a typical hair salon. The expected styling chairs and shelves teeming with products are there?but they take a backseat to flourishes such as a gothic-style chandelier with silver skulls dangling from it and a spiral staircase with a mannequin head or zombie head on each step. Mesmerizing Hieronymus Bosch?style artwork by Joshua Michael Cornwell hangs from the walls, depicting such dark images as skeletons and kids not respecting their teacher's authority.
Not surprisingly, this Jack Skellingtonian salon attracts edgy hairstylists such as Patrick Boswell, who turns strands shocking pinks, blues, and oranges. But it's also a place where Patrick and his fellow stylists create timeless looks with subtle, skin-tone-complementing highlights, hair-straightening keratin treatments, and glamor-enhancing updos or hair extensions.
Patrons of Park West Barber School not only get the satisfaction of knowing they'll be treated to services that are as wallet friendly as they are relaxing, they also get the pleasure of helping aspiring barbers hone their skills to prepare for future careers as barbers or scissors-wielding ninjas. Park West's students can take care of one’s most basic haircare needs with a quick shampoo and haircut or indulge clients a little more with a soothing scalp or hot-oil treatment or an old-fashioned hot shave.
Led by Vincenzo, a 26-year-veteran of the styling business, Metro Hair Studio's trained staffers corral nails into fashionable appendage accessories during spa mani-pedi treatments. Decadigits lounge in a tonic salt soak before submitting to the classic file, buff, and de-finger-puppeting that readies nails for pigmented makeovers. Technicians then coat phalangeal appendages in an exfoliating sugar scrub, with the granular crystals buffing away skin's rough outer layers. Hands and feet relax under the warm strokes of heat mask and massage, extracting stresses to fashion calm demeanors and a deficit in the amateur poetry market. The tensome treatment concludes with a polishing in the color of choice, with patrons immediately debuting their sandal-strutting makeover.
Four of Fuze Salon's stylists have more than a decade of experience, and Artistic Director Chip Perry has spent more than two decades in the business. Perry spent time as a national performing artist for Redken and specialized in teaching corrective color at the Redken Exchange, so it’s no surprise the salon uses ammonia-free Redken Chromatics dye as its go-to. Like Fievel Mousekewitz, his journey to happiness began with petty theft. His online biography describes how he would commandeer his neighbors' dolls as a child and "spend hours trying to twist the two inches of fiber into different shapes.” Now, he styles brides and men's cuts with equal dexterity, and keeps his hands busy raising two dogs, contributing to the boards of two charitable organizations, and rallying the community around philanthropic drives and walks.
