Presto Bar and Grill spurns frozen and canned foods, instead offering the freshest meats, seafood, and vegetables, artfully presented and crafted with personal attention. Presto Grill's menu is headlined by the Angus burger, a sumptuous half-pound of fresh ground chuck that's char-grilled and tucked in a toasted kaiser roll ($7.75). Pizza purveyors use their jeweler's loupes to inspect the blemish-less spinach-cheese pizza, made in-house with mozzarella, feta, and parmesan cheese ($9.95 for 10"). Those in an aquatic state of mind can nosh on the seafood jambalaya, a mixture of shrimp, scallops, and calamari sautéed in a piquant Cajun tomato-cream sauce ($16.95). Finish by indulging in one of Presto's alluring desserts, such as the tuxedo truffle mousse ($6) and its attendant white-and-dark-chocolate icing, which can be quickly applied as an emergency wedding tuxedo. Sit underneath the red umbrellas dotting Presto Bar and Grill's exquisite rooftop patio, which affords scenic views of the Charlotte skyline, or conquer the Internet on the restaurant's WiFi. With free nearby parking, diners can easily rumble in on coal-powered moto-ottomans.

Landry's, Inc. operates more than 40 restaurant brands with only two main goals: good food and good memories. Thankfully, each of their venues has a signature element that's hard to forget, whether the Oceanaire's fresh seafood?flown in daily?or Rainforest Cafe's animatronic wildlife that's almost as realistic as the Amazon's wind-up monkeys. Steak and seafood spots feature prominently on the list of Landry's locations, including Morton's The Steakhouse, Vic & Anthony's Steakhouse, and McCormick & Schmick's Seafood & Steaks. But there are standouts in other genres, too, such as the Italian trattoria known as Grotto.

Bluprint extends a welcoming plate of food to hungry diners, directing them to a menu filled with classic lunch and dinner fare and all-day breakfast. Come sunrise, pancakes are a particularly ubiquitous fast-breaking specialty, dressing fluffy disks in chantilly cream and fresh blueberries or showering them with bacon, shaved chocolate, and powdered sugar ($6 each). Other morning options include the Peace & Love chicken and waffles ($8). Sandwiches bridge the gap between midday and late afternoon, following closely on the heels of light meals such as a fish 'n' chips dish of beer-battered cod with hand-cut fries ($7). Nighttime-only nourishment sticks to ribs in the form of beef-and-lamb meatloaf served with fresh mint, seasonal gravy, veggies, and garlic mashed potatoes ($10). For eaters who'd like to start the day a second time, Bluprint's breakfast-for-dinner options allow them to do so.

The details at Clear Water Auto Spa serve two purposes: remove past blemishes and prevent future damage. The former is accomplished by hand scrubbing the exterior, shampooing the seats, and vacuuming windshield dice off the floors. Once the car is clean, the technicians take it a step further by applying Teflon wax and clear-coat sealant to the finish and Scotchgard to the interior to build a protective layer against future contaminants. Paintless dent removal and paint touchups further elevate cars’ resale value and cosmetic appeal.

It's not every 5K run in which participants look like they've been tie-dyed by the end of it. But most runs are not this much fun either. As runners put one foot in front of the other during Color My Run, volunteers cover them with colorful dust, adding extra joy and a bit of silliness to an event where your finishing time isn't everything. That sense of joy also extends to the charitable recipient of each event as well, which is often a children's hospital.
