What's the most radical physical transformation you've seen a client make?
We have a client in his early 60s who has absolutely transformed his body by consistent exercise and training and good nutrition. He credits his personal trainer, but really he's done all the hard work. And it shows.
Sweating to the oldies is acceptable, but sweating to the blues less so. Do you find that certain styles and genres of music generate more intense workouts?
Music motivates movement; there's no question. We have a great mix of instructors who play a wide variety of music, including original mixes from one of our DJ instructors. You'll find rock and roll, jazz, reggae and lots of electronic dance tracks here. And we have a disco ball in the cycle studio.

Thrive is all about functional fitness?that is, keeping people healthy as they move through all phases of their life. Our clients range in age from rom the twenties to the seventies. Even though their fitness needs differ, their goals are basically the same: to stay healthy and fit. It's our challenge to help them. We think we do a great job; at least, they tell us that we do.
Jernard Wells learned to cook by watching his father, who prepared dinner for his six children every night. Inspired by his father and encouraged by his mother, Jernard started his own catering business while in high school and had immediate success. He made boxed lunches that were a hit with local construction workers; by the age of 22 he had opened two restaurants. Wells has since built on that success quite a bit?he?s put together presentations at large shows alongside Barack Obama and Paula Deen, authored two books, and made appearances on Food Network and Lifetime shows.
Today, Wells develops recipes for brands such as Whole Foods and sells specialty spices such as sweet tea chicken seasoning with black tea leaves and sage, and southern barbecue seasoning with smoked sea salt and paprika. He also extends his love of cooking to others though classes that focus on a range of topics?you can learn how to prepare quick appetizers, make Italian pasta sauces, or gracefully lick a plate clean.
Although instructors Travis Clark and Jon Gillespie lead Southeast Photo Adventures's workshops and excursions, they share the teaching load with the shores of Tybee Island and the depths of Cloudland Canyon. Students shoot shoulder-to-shoulder with instructors amid these sprawls of striking Southeastern scenery, whether they're enrolled in 2.5-hour workshops, Foto Field Trips open to workshop grads, or weekend-long adventures. The field-trip-style outings are open to all skill levels, but beginners can also enhance their expertise in introductory courses on Photoshop, digital photography, and DSLR cameras' complex settings, which control everything from shutter speed to the tiny red light bulb behind each of our eyes.
