Colorful flower arrangements and golden-oak wood tones brighten the styling stations at International Beauty Education Center II, where students carefully perform services as they work toward cosmetology, manicuring, and aesthetician licenses. With intensive study of the beauty industry and a fresh perspective on new trends, the students are able to avoid accidentally giving clients the hairdos of the Founding Fathers. They perform waxing treatments, manicures, haircuts, and skin-cleansing services. Treatments include anti-aging facials, tangerine-escape manicures, and chocolate-mint-mousse spa pedicures.
The staff members at Sylvan Learning's numerous centers understand that each child learns differently. Therefore, they don’t try to implement a uniform tutoring system; instead, they design custom lesson programs based on the results of a skills assessment using diagnostic tools and one-on-one interviews.
Tutors work with students from pre-kindergarten through grade 12, illuminating topics ranging from basic reading and writing to remembering complex algebraic formulas without having them tattooed on your chest. Many of Sylvan’s instructors work in local schools, so they are intimately familiar with common curricula and understand how to gear lessons toward optimal results. Camps and after-school and summer classes can ready high-schoolers for the rigors of the ACT or the SAT, or they can help students to wow college-admissions officers with their superior essay-writing skills.
The Lincoln Center is a 29,000-square-foot art-deco facility housing ballrooms and meeting halls ideal for weddings, galas, awards ceremonies, and other events. The center has six varying and multifunctional rooms, ranging from 200-person ballrooms to libraries and art galleries.
For weddings, the staff can take care of floral arrangements and catering, while corporate event planners use stage lighting, audio-visual services, and Ozzy Osbourne to make quarterly profit reports more exciting. The stylish ballrooms are put to good use with events such as the Bling! in the New Year party and a beer showcase sponsored by New Belgium Brewery.
With six aquatic centers scattered across town, Spokane Parks and Recreation champions summertime fun with well-equipped hydro-havens. With an adult (18 years old or older) or youth (3–17 years old) pass, swimmers can take advantage of unlimited recreational pool access. Most of the aquatic centers boast zero-depth entry for toddlers to safely wet their feet, as well as waterslides, separate lap pools, and the entire cast from Law and Order: Pacific Ocean Unit as lifeguards. Accompanying the maritime merriment, each facility also includes a large deck for lounging outside of the pool as well as adjacent parks and shaded areas for hiding from falling sunbeams.
Cupid Photobooth adds another level of excitement to festivities such as birthdays, weddings, and corporate functions with photo-booth rental packages. The 5'x7' picture nooks accommodate groups of party-goers, whose photo strips are delivered quickly thanks to custom printers. Onsite attendants keep the booths operating smoothly, and ensure on-time delivery, setup, and take down. Each rental package comes with a flash drive containing all the pictures from the event. Extra add-ons such as scrapbooks create lasting memories, as do wearable props that can make silly pictures even sillier.
NoEpi Wellness Center works to eradicate restless nights and rejuvenate bodies with NuCalm treatments. First, patrons down a cocktail of natural amino acids to prep the body for snoozing. Then, they don a pair of glasses that obscures visual distractions and headphones that utilize neuro-acoustic software and binaural beats, softly pumping classical music to trigger deep relaxation. The stress-reducing therapeutic experience mimics the effects of meditation, helping lead to a better night's sleep and overall sense of refreshment.
