During Loyola University’s #3USHAK3SF3ST, three theater departments from three Illinois universities explore a wide Shakespearean spectrum with renditions of a comedy, a history, and a fantasy. In Measure for Measure, the hosting thespians uncap a comedy about the hypocrisy of a corrupt judge the Duke of Vienna tasks to tidy the city’s lax moral code of conduct. On Saturday night, Western Illinois condenses the history plays of Henry IV into a single show, chronicling the perilous years in English history when British soldiers fended off the thorns that pricked royal fingers. For Sunday’s finale, a Prospero from Bradley’s Peoria campus casts a stormy spell over the city’s north lakeshore in Shakespeare’s last play, The Tempest. The theater groups will produce all three works using the same innovative set structure, lighting design, and spells for summoning stagehands, enabling the triad to smoothly reconstruct itself at the other two campuses after the inaugural Chicago festival.

Kindled on October 8, 1997?the 126th anniversary of Chicago's infamous blaze?the Chicago Fire played their first Major League Soccer season in 1998 as one of the league's first expansion teams?and nabbed its first and only MLS Cup in that inaugural season. Under the supervision of U.S. Men's National Team head coach Bob Bradley, the club has been a hazard ever since, taking home four Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup trophies and reaching the playoffs in nearly every year of its existence. Located in Bridgeview, Toyota Park hosts each home game, its grounds spacious enough to seat 20,000 and fertile enough for planting new soccer-net saplings each spring.

With a preseason No. 10 AVCA coaches' poll ranking, the Loyola University men's volleyball team is serving up big-time expectations that it hopes to spike home to ensure late-season glory. Season ticketholders won't miss one ace, dig, or castle built on the court's imaginary sand when the Ramblers storm their home nets at the newly renovated Gentile Arena. Some of the nation's top squads visit Loyola's Lake Shore Campus for netted battles this season, including the eighth-ranked Ohio State Buckeyes, seventh-ranked Penn State Nittany Lions, and 13th-ranked Chicagoland rival Lewis Flyers. Preseason second-team All-American and senior Mike Bunting stalks the court from his outside hitter position, where last season he bagged 417 kills and taxidermied countless balls in his dorm. Bunting's preseason all-conference teammate, Joe Smalzer utilized his 6-foot, 8-inch stature to tally 63 blocks as a redshirt freshman last season. With general-admission seating, fans can check out every angle in Gentile Arena, which has been redesigned as a true college stadium that features chair-back seating, a new concourse, and brand-new concessions.
