During the four one-hour tennis lessons, you'll learn the basics of tennis from one of XS Tennis's instructors, each an experienced professional. Master the art of the backhand, draw power and sustenance from the strength of the serve, or unravel the allure of the mysterious drop shot, all while getting exercise that doesn't involve hitting a bag of potato chips with a hammer. The lessons are group lessons, giving students the chance to make new friends or potential athletic rivals between grunts and fault-fueled arguments. Customers can apply the value of this Groupon toward an upgrade to another XS Tennis class or lesson and just pay the difference directly to XS Tennis.

Evergreen Racquet & Fitness Club boasts 94,000 square feet of facilities, populated by amenities both relaxing and recreational. Members can challenge friends or family members to a crisp volley on one of the club's five indoor tennis courts or settle landholding disputes in a rotating best-of-three series of racquetball, handball, and wallyball. The club's two-room fitness center contains all manner of muscle-toning mechanisms, including seven treadmills, three elliptical machines, and an expansive medley of free weights. Soothe sore protoplasm in the jet-propelled waters of the club's whirlpool, or cleanse the body of sweat and lingering childhood phobias in the surrounds of two dry-heat saunas (located in the men's and women's locker rooms).

Classes are limited to 6–12 students and begin at 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, and at 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Mounted on the walls of Strings Attached is a colorful array of crisp new tennis, racquetball, squash, and badminton rackets awaiting their chance to pummel their respective spheres across the court. As players peruse the equipment made by heavyweights such as Wilson, Prince, and Dunlop, a knowledgeable staff stands by, ready to dole out pro advice on which rackets best meet their size or style of play. Players can also upgrade their wardrobes by slipping into new clothes, trying on supportive shoes, and folding themselves into durable gear bags. Expert technicians, meanwhile, help customers' rackets reach their greatest potential by stabilizing grips or tightening and re-stringing down-at-the-heel equipment.

Play Golf and Tennis's instructors help students hone forehands and chips throughout the year. Aspirant tennis players and golfers improve their game at the Diversey Driving Range and the Hamlin Park tennis courts in the summer, and on Mars in the event of a planetary evacuation. Players learn either sport under the direction of renowned golf and tennis professional Ron Carroll, or work on executing perfect turns in a nonfunctioning golf cart with instructor-supplied engine noises.
