  • Irish American Heritage Center
Occupying a building that sprang up at the turn of the 20th century, the Irish American Heritage Center (IAHC) somehow manages to cram Ireland into one of Chicago?s city blocks. Work from Irish artists hangs in the building?s art gallery, books from Irish authors fill its library, Irish plays light up its 658-seat theater, and Irish food and drinks delight the crowd on the main floor at the Fifth Province Pub. The IAHC also has a knowledgeable staff of instructors, who teach classes on everything from Irish dance and music to Irish language and genealogy.

  • Copernicus Center
The Copernicus Center is one of the hippest, most modern musical meccas in all of Chicago. Formerly a movie palace, the Copernicus Center was renovated in 1981 to cater to the performing artists of the city. Some of the more notable events that happen here include comedic impersonations of famous celebrities including Elvis, Polka Band performances, and the annual Taste of Polonia festival, where a $7 adult ticket gives you access to ethnic food from all over the globe, access to a bouncy house, and prize games from as little as $5 per month. This fantastical event takes place in late August of every year, and features live musical performances from some of the biggest local names in music.

  • H-E-B
Chicago Dance Institute incorporates dance into elementary-school curricula to teach creativity through music and movement. It uses dance as a catalyst to inspire children to work hard and develop confidence and methods for self-expression. During its two-week residency program, Chicago Dance Institute sends two professional dancers into elementary schools to teach dance to children in grades three–five for 45-minutes every day. The classes, set to music from a live pianist, percussionist, or guitar player, guide children in practicing steps and hand motions. The lessons also encourage students to engage in social interaction and improve empathy and conflict resolution skills. At the conclusion of the two-week program, the students get to perform for their peers during the day and for their parents and community members later that evening.
