Recognizing that the desire to dance knows neither the bounds of age nor ability, the instructors at NorthSide tailor their class selection to both adults and children of all levels of experience. They teach various dance styles that run the gamut from classical ballet to jazz and modern dance to hip-hop. Zumba classes supply their sultry rhythms to burn calories, and social partner-dancing classes instruct their attendees in nightclub-worthy moves. The studio space welcomes dancers with vast empty hardwood floors and walls full of mirrored panels, which help dancers hone techniques and foster a healthy sense of competition with the bizarro versions of everyone that live behind the glass.
At Tango Che Productions, couple Daniel Noce and Ramona Nita share lifetimes of experience through instruction and foster a strong Argentine tango community with milonga parties. Noce hails from Argentina, where he earned a bachelor's degree in his country's native dances, including tango, before joining the Ballet of the University of Argentina and studying under tango luminaries Rodolfo Dinzel. Nita pointed her feet toward tango at age 12, when she earned a dance scholarship and pair of spring-loaded heels that launched her career as an instructor and performer of Latin and ballroom styles. In 2005, she met tango by way of Noce, and the two have since showcased their passionate embrace and deft footwork as members of the Otero Dance Company.
The pair teaches private and group tango lessons together, imparting the intricacies of leading and following through their own bodies and trails of rose petals they use to mark choreography. During weekly Friday night milongas, a seasoned tango DJ draws couples to the dance floor for a night of traditional dancing. In addition to putting on professional performances for cultural and corporate events, the staff hosts dance-laden on-site wedding receptions for up to 60 people.

After more than a decade spent establishing an innovative contemporary dance company in Santa Fe, Foster Dance Studios founder Ronn Stewart has touched down once more in a studio beside the Foster Purple Line stop. As the flipside of training the pros of the Joffrey Ballet, Stewart stretches an artistic arm toward as wide a student base as possible with his trademark MoPeD—or More People Dancing—curriculum. Exercises designed to develop rich internal imagery and a strong connection to one's body bear fruit in fluid, aerobic movements that spring from within each student. The center's inclusive philosophy extends to Everybody Move classes, where young children develop motor skills that go beyond racecar imitation by twirling scarves in the air, bouncing balls, and playing musical instruments. The newly constructed studios also find room for Gyrotronic fitness classes and dance schooling in nearly every established mode, along with vivid abstract art accidentally produced by a dancer in a just-painted tutu.
Though the artsy, industrial vibe stays the same all day long at Artango South American Bistro, the morning and evening crowds could not be more different. During the day, diners lounge in the naturally-lit dining room to make a feast of their BYOB drinks paired with South American bistro fare. These can include traditional bistro dishes remade with South American ingredients such as quinoa, mango, and yams. Brunch dishes include chorizo eggs benedict made with Peruvian yellow pepper hollandaise or lunch dishes such as the Argentinian skirt-steak served with chimichurri sauce on a baguette. Additionally, dinner is served Thursday through Sunday and is like experiencing Buenos Aires in Chicago. Dinner includes starters such as ceviche and empanadas, ahead of entrees such as filet mignon, grilled salmon, roasted chicken, and rocoto relleno, a dish of quinoa and vegetables with a smoked provolone.
