The father-son-son team of licensed and insured painters at Areté Renovators Inc. rejuvenates homes' walls with fresh color ensembles. After the prep work, which includes draping floors and furniture and bestowing the bright blue badge of painter's tape on trim and windowpanes, the brush-wielding artisans lay down a primer coat before rolling on a glossy layer of the homeowner's choice of paint. Those who forgo the primer receive a top-coat sequel instead, which fills holes left in the wall's original storyline.

Of the garden’s 140 plots on the corner of Peterson and Campbell, eight are reserved for the Grow2Give program. Last year, garden volunteers cultivated nearly 200 pounds of produce in these plots for local organizations. This year, Grow2Give's yield will benefit the clients of Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) a food-assistance program sponsored by the Department of Human Services. The WIC center on Lawrence Avenue will transform Grow2Give's harvest into a teaching tool for nutrition classes, as well as a source of nutrition, available to the more than 6,000 women and children who visit the center each month. Grow2Give would like to expand the amount of produce it can provide for WIC clients by increasing its number of garden plots.
