As the name implies, the trio of doctors at Brixton Chiropractic and Acupuncture deals out noninvasive chiropractic and acupuncture treatments geared toward vanquishing pain without the use of drugs. They extol the body’s ability to heal itself and attempt to stimulate that property with a combination of spinal adjustments that relieve pinched nerves and sterile needles to reroute the body’s energy. In addition to plying their healing services in the office, they also arm clients with self-care information, such as exercises and proper nutrition.
The Oklahoma City Repertory Theatre brings treasured plays to the Oklahoma stage, presenting varied seasons of stalwart standbys and modern classics. Theatergoers will feast curtain-starved eyes on Neil Simon's Pulitzer Prize–winning Biloxi Blues, a semiautobiographical coming-of-age story set in an army training camp in 1940s Mississippi. An aspiring writer from Brooklyn, protagonist Eugene Jerome learns to cope with a hardnosed drill sergeant, deals with his first taste of anti-Semitism, and falls in love over the course of his basic training, turning his developing writer's eye on the comedy and poignancy of becoming an adult. The show, similar to diaries of a student's first year at a distant clown college, is by turns both hilarious and touching.
Whichever date you choose, you get a spot in the upper-level seating-area sections 301–314 or 326–328, above the rodeo and superb for spotting man and beast locked in violent embrace. Bull riding distinguishes itself from shark surfing and surgical-laser tag as one of the most dangerous sports in existence. Professional riders employ little more than tight-fitting chaps, a hard leather strap, and incredibly beefy thigh muscles in their attempt to stay fixed for at least eight seconds on nearly one ton of mammalian muscle and ruminant rage.
In Oklahoma City's only venue for hockey puction, the Barons deliver all the careening athleticism and bracing environment of the major leagues, while serving as a developmental arm for the NHL's Edmonton Oilers. Tickets in the blue section ($21) at the Cox Convention Center downtown lend lofty views of the Barons as they take their inaugural sojourn through the American Hockey League. Since the team is new, all fans are new, providing a handy excuse when you keep confusing the hockey puck for a cat, but the Groupon's included T-shirt (available in size XL) and discount at the team store ushers each man, woman or child one step closer to superfandom with team-appropriate garb.
