Instructor Nataliya Saborio draws upon her award-winning competitive dance career in Ukraine to lead a schedule of 60-minute belly-dance sessions stratified into three difficulty levels. Dancers need no prior experience to pick up modalities such as current class topic Egyptian pop beledi. The Middle Eastern cocktail of classic belly-dance movements, isolations, and shimmies syncs to beledi beats as energizing and addicting as a caffeinated Twinkie. On March 12, the curriculum will shift to focus on folkloric dances from locales such as Tunisia and Morocco that together constitute the foundation of belly dance. By studying the various incarnations of the sinuous, abdomen-centered art form, students will slim their figures, build flexibility, and boost their ability to crack walnuts with their abs.

In support of her high-decibel new album, Rihanna kicks off her hotly anticipated LOUD tour with emphatic gusto and a sizzling roster of special guests. Like an art show at a sundae bar, the LOUD tour floods the senses, enchanting audiences with lavishly designed sets, myriad costume changes, move-busting dancers, and Rihanna's songbook of Grammy magnets. Crooner Cee Lo Green augments the songful offerings with his own vocal talents, and Roc Nation rapper and rhythm scientist J. Cole further helps resuscitate ear drums traumatized by the outside world's blaring car horns and shrill howler monkeys.

Hershey Theatre The Hershey Theatre, conceived in 1933 by noted philanthropist and chocolatier Milton S. Hershey, stands as an opulent tribute to the performing arts. Taking architectural cues from Saint Mark’s Basilica in Venice, the foyer’s towering arches gleam with golden paint and crystal chandeliers. The blue-and-gold mosaic that leads to the main seating area is the masterwork of two German artists who spent two years on its construction. Once inside the theater, audiences might think they’ve stepped onto the streets of Venice thanks to the atmospheric ceiling, stonework facades, and gondoliers paddling them to their seats. ####Bethel Woods Center for the Arts Music has permeated the 800 manicured acres where the Bethel Woods Center for the Arts has stood since 1969, when farmer Max Yasgur agreed to let love, peace, and harmony grow wild at the very first Woodstock festival. These days, the renowned outdoor venue and cultural center continues to attract the biggest acts in music to its pavilion stage. The open-air design ensures ample ventilation on the natural sloping lawn, and a roof protects up to 15,000 fans from inclement weather and the prying eyes of Cessna pilots.

The Farmers Insurance Open is held at the Torrey Pines Golf Course each year in February. The tournament allows ordinary players to team up with PGA pros to play golf at Torrey Pines, which has been called a highly challenging course. The golf tournament supports numerous charities with the money earned from ticket sales and proceeds from players. They were able to generate almost $3 million dollars in 2014, which was given to charitable organizations. Volunteers are welcome to apply and the Farmers Insurance Open utilizes the time and skills of hundreds of volunteers each year to make the tournament a huge success. Ticket prices are listed on the website but do go up the closer it gets to the time of the tournament. The Farmers Open is grateful for all the partner businesses who donate their goods and services to make the event successful. These include area restaurants and other businesses. Companies are encouraged to utilize the Open for advertising and branding opportunities.

The historic fountain at the east end of Balboa Park’s El Prado pedestrian walk is a lure for visitors, thanks to its majestic and cooling spray. But a quick turn to the right is the entrance to the Reuben H. Fleet Science Center, another local draw. For the young, it’s a two story, interactive science playground. For the young at heart, there are sophisticated displays, rotating exhibits and the new, NanoSeam IMAX Dome Theater. Films splayed across the 76-foot wraparound screen plunge viewers into the depths of the sea and out into space, through jungles and between skyscrapers around the planet. Resident astronomers also create new shows monthly, using the latest SkyScan System software. The café near the entrance takes care of hungry visitors with a modest menu, a few tables indoors and patio seating in front of the fountain.
