Q&A with Mark Glasby, Owner

When and how did you first develop a passion for your work?
We are avid cyclists and have been active in the local cycling community for years. Mark was a whitewater raft guide for several years and loves to share stories and history of the Upper Arkansas Valley.

What special training do you or your staff have?
We know the local history, geography, trails, roads, [and] bike routes in the area and can personalize our customers' experience. Additionally, we are experienced in teaching our customers how to safely operate the Segway Personal Transporter.

Apart from your business's main attraction, do you offer any "hidden" services or activities that visitors are always delighted to learn about?
We provide suggested routes for electric bike tours based on the customer's ability and desired experience. We are long time Salida residents and can provide lots of colorful local history on our Segway tours.

Operating out of Alamosa and La Veta’s train depots, Rio Grande Scenic Railroad’s 100-year old steam engine pulls a long line of comfy coach and observation cars on a scenic journey over the mountainous La Veta Pass. Seasonal themed trains complement the route’s tunnels and horseshoe curves with holiday décor or stops at an alpine concert venue.

E-470 Public Highway Authority ensures that drivers traversing the 47-mile beltway on the perimeter of the Denver metropolitan area have a reliable and safe commute. After redeeming this Groupon, customers will be shipped a toll transponder to attach to their cars. Like a bridge troll with an MBA, the authority's EXpressToll system automatically senses the transponder and deducts tolls from a driver's account every time he or she uses a toll road. Registered highwaymen and -women receive a 20% discount on tolls on E-470, leaving hard-earned money in wallets for remodeling doghouses or sending children to clown college. Detail-oriented day-trippers should refer to the online toll calculator for an idea of how much certain distances will cost.

The most difficult thing about the supercar driving experiences at Oxotic might be the first thing drivers do: actually choosing a ride. he company keeps its fleet of uber rare $300,000 supercars. Once drivers make their selection, though, it's a straight shot to the open road. Each experience begins with a brief orientation, during which instructors explain how every doodad in the car works so drivers don't hit the wrong button and accidentally shoot silly string from the exhaust pipe. The driving experiences themselves range from five to 100 miles in length, and souvenirs–such as high-def video recordings of rides–keep adrenalin rushes going long after the pistons stop pumping.
