Though it celebrates athleticism of all stripes, Sports of All Sorts Batting Cages specializes in training amateurs in America's pastime. Along with batting cages equipped for baseball and slow- or fast-pitch softball, the facility improves each player's game with a hitting and pitching tunnel and pitching mounds with L-screens. Seasoned players and area college coaches demonstrate batting skills at off-season baseball camps, which can be customized for groups of six or more.
The facility's multipurpose court hosts a range of activities such as basketball scrimmages, cheerleading practice, and royal curling tournaments while the king's ice rink gets remodeled. After practice, the arcade hosts rounds of air hockey, billiards, or video games, and Sports of All Sorts' bounce house and three-tiered indoor soft playground hosts the hopping of younger visitors.
Kim Rice's love of photography stretches all the way back to high school. From there, she went on to get a photography degree, and in 1988 she founded Keepsake Photography Studio. Her passion for the art stays strong to this day, as she continues to capture snapshots of families, high-school seniors, pets, and loving couples within her studio's homey confines. Ms. Rice isn't the only friendly face visitors find at Keepsake Photography Studio, however. Pet sidekicks Oscar the parrot and Houdini the cat also greet clients, and they both know the secrets to striking a compelling pose.
The Cincinnati Chamber Orchestra showcases music not commonly performed by large symphony orchestras, so each show is an uncommon musical experience. During Spring 2, the delicately constructed harmonies of Arnold Schoenberg and George Gershwin (two works each) float across Corbett Auditorium and into ears to tickle auditory nerves like pixies riding tiny ponies on eardrums. Two of the four pieces were inspired by literature. Schoenberg’s Transfigured Night was inspired by a Richard Dehmel poem about a shocking confession that affects two lovers, while Gershwin's Porgy and Bess Suite is inspired by DuBose Heyward’s racially charged 1925 novel about the inhabitants of the semi-fictional Catfish Row. Schoenberg's Five Pieces for Orchestra, op. 16, is an unsettling work that balances Gershwin's famous Rhapsody in Blue, which is performed by acclaimed solo pianist Michael Chertock.
Charles Behlow Professional Photography offers professional photography, video, and digital services for any occasion. To produce the photo-to-print miracle, a client sends in or uploads a picture, at which point a trained and certifiably tortured artist digitally modifies the image, renders it on fine-art-quality paper, and accents it with watercolors and oil paints according to the client's requests. The treatment adds an emotive touch to familiar people and places, making it an ideal way to preserve glowing memories and add realistic moustaches to your relatives. The studio can work from prints, digital photos, negatives, or slides, and the finished 11"x14" print is placed in a 16"x20” matte.
