While FTA Firearms Inc. encourages clients to use their own firearms, they can supply gun rentals and ammunition at an additional cost for their students.
Since 1995, FTA Firearms Inc.'s team of retired law-enforcement officers and NRA-certified instructors have trained clients ranging from civilians to police personnel in firearm safety and responsibility. The staff teaches two classroom sessions and practical marksmanship skills on the range. FTA Firearms Inc.'s instructors additionally offer in-depth analysis of self-defense laws, advanced firearms training, and private group lessons.

The educators behind Mad Science propagate a love of science, technology, engineering, and math through programs that immerse kids in exploration. Rather than standing at a lectern and droning on about static electricity or the life cycle of a cootie, the educators meet kids at eye level for experiments that actively instill principles of questioning and observation. Although their methods are fun, they're also meaningful—lessons align with STEM objectives and enrich classroom science curriculums. Scientists typically host workshops at school facilities, but also can transport their rockets, lasers, and slime to birthday parties and inquiry-based field trips.
Recently featured on WBTV for sending a weather balloon built out of spare parts into outer space, TechShop RDU has a supportive community of inventors, artists, technicians, and alchemists who are all excited about their next big idea, creating an environment limited only by the imagination. The 20,000-square-foot smorgasbord of inventive creativity beckons people of all skill levels to its DIY confines, where members can wield tools not found in most private workshops, slicing through steel with a plasma cutter or accessing 3-D design software to finally realize the goal of crawling inside the Internet. Hands-on classes jump-start creative juices, introducing students to vocational skills including welding, soldering, and woodworking. Neophyte inventors aged 12–17 are welcome but must be accompanied by a parent or guardian to ensure they don't break physics.
Though many students come to Mathnasium having fallen behind their classmates, a mathematically advanced child sparked the learning program’s creation. As founder Larry Martinek’s young son, Nic, developed an appetite for higher-level math concepts, Larry found himself developing an entirely new teaching language to explain them in an age-appropriate way. The kind of instincts he sought to build up couldn’t be nurtured by drills and rote memorization. Instead, they required a deeper understanding of the principles at the root of mathematical operations, delivered in a way that grade-school kids could apply throughout their academic careers.
In just a decade’s time, Larry and his team have established Mathnasium centers in most U.S. states and more than a dozen other countries. At each, tutors who earned a 700 or higher on the math portion of the SAT develop custom learning plans for students in grades K–12 based on The Mathnasium Method. The system combines an education strategy of conceptual, tactile, and visual techniques with a curriculum structure that ensures kids can count, think proportionally, and tell the difference between a multiplication sign and a plus sign by scent alone. Tutors allow some time each session to help students with the concepts in their math homework, and the centers regularly check report cards and standardized tests as further measures of progress.
The Brier Creek Elementary School PTA connects parents with their children's school, teachers, and administrators; those communities join forces to bring unique learning opportunities and fun events, such as the spring carnival, to the school. The PTA also helps influence important decisions and raises money to make Brier Creek the best possible environment for learning.
