Conceived by Las Vegas restaurateur Mark DiMartino, Tilted Kilt Pub & Eatery evokes Ireland by way of Vegas, with waitresses dressed in plaid mini kilts shouldering trays of chilled beer and pub fare. Like an enchilada stuffed with four-leaf clovers, the eatery’s Irish nachos interpret a south-of-the-border classic in a Celtic way, slathering potato chips in cheese sauce and seasoned ground beef; alternatively, pot roast and vegetables simmer traditionally in the Olde Dublin Irish stew’s Guinness-infused beef stock. Barkeeps pour a full bar’s worth of wine, cocktails, and beer, which surfaces in bottles, bombers, and multi-brew mixes such as the Blue Moon and Guinness combination. High-definition TVs glow with a ceaseless parade of professional and college baseball, basketball, and hockey, and live bands add to the entertainment smorgasbord on Monday nights.
Weighing in at almost a pound per slice, Mario's Pizzeria Trattoria's philly-cheesesteak stuffed pizza teems with meat and three cheeses. This is just one of the menu's specialty pizzas, which also include the pizza with nine vegetables and four cheeses and the Chicago Classico, made with sausage and fresh basil. The pizza dough is made fresh daily, as is the tomato sauce that douses pasta dishes.
Diners enjoy their pizzas, pastas, subs, and salads inside or out on the patio tables. They can even cruise through Mario's drive-thru window in Largo if they need a meal to go or a quick olive-oil top-off to keep car engines running smoothly.
Fuzzy's Sports Bar & Grill is all about the combo. The kitchen pairs hearty burgers with savory hot wings, while the bar smartly puts beers with football—the NFL Package beams games to 22 HDTVs mounted around the room. But there are more reasons to stay after the game ends. At the stroke of 12 every night, the Midnight Madness special slashes the price on drinks and burgers, and, on Wednesdays, ladies and well-mascara'ed orangutans can enjoy bargain wine and cocktails.
Using high-quality, non-Muscadine crushed grapes imported from all over the world, the team at Aspirations Winery has been churning out low-sulfite wines since 2003. They ferment grapes into smooth, premium flavors that are comparable to those of commercially produced wines that come at twice the price and with twice as much luggage. Fruit-infused wines accompany traditional reds and whites on the shop's shelves, and if customers can't find what they're looking for, Aspirations readily stretches its arm around the globe to tap the shoulder of an appropriate supplier.
In addition to its arsenal of potables, the winery also runs a labeling service, printing custom designs that are scratch resistant and safe to dunk into tubs of water during games of bobbing for bottles.
Coconuts Comedy Club, located in Jack’s Joint since 1998, has been luring in chuckle-seekers for more than two decades with a glittering stage filled with nationally touring comedians. To keep growling stomachs from heckling comedians out of frustration, visitors can mute tummy rumbles with a full menu bursting at the seams with saucy wings, 14-inch hand-tossed pizzas, and brawny steaks.
Part bar and part bistro, 2 Palms Bar & Bistro is fully committed to fun. The Clearwater hangout keeps the party going all week, with an extended happy hour on weekdays and an evening schedule that features everything from karaoke and live comedy to trivia. But the food alone is worth the trip, thanks to a menu of modern pub grub that includes burgers, flatbreads, wraps, and cuban sandwiches. Any of the above pairs nicely with a draft beer or specialty cocktail.
