Stretching across 12,000 square feet of indoor practice space furnished with fine equipment, Hit & Run's facilities help hone swing mechanics of little leaguers, high-school athletes, and beer-league beanballers thanks to a slew of pitching machines and training areas. Individual cage rentals allow a full 30 minutes of clobbering inside any of Hit & Run's seven regulation-sized batting cages, which stretch 70 feet in length and 14 feet in height to better follow the ball's trajectory and house sporting whales. In addition to its enclosed cages, the facility boasts four batting-tee and soft-toss stations, along with both baseball and softball machines. The Iron Mike and Jugs Super machines, meanwhile, allow helmeted hackers to zero in on fast-pitch spheres.
Plantation Pet Resort helps pets feel at home by giving them ample exercise and attention on 11 acres of grassy play space. Dogs bound into the day at 7:30 a.m., roaming in two shaded outdoor play yards—one for big dogs and one for small. A fenced grassy area provides plentiful space for energetic games of frisbee, fetch, and Pin the Tail on the Schnauzer. Canines barrel across turf and engage in friendly tussles for two hours as staff members give pets’ heated and air-conditioned suites a thorough clean. Happily weary dogs are led back to their spacious accommodations for breakfast and a nap, returning outside four to five more times during the day for a half hour or more. At night, TVs, DVDs, and radios keep pets from missing the comforts of home and the antics of favorite talk-show hosts.
At Jungle Games Paintball, the acres of playing fields are littered with abandoned transport vehicles that set the stage for action-packed gaming. Defunct helicopters serve as sniping stations, and hollowed-out vans provide a place for opponents to duck for cover or take a break to plan their financial futures. As players navigate around trees in one of Extreme Paintball's six wooded fields, they take aim with rented Tippmann 98 markers upon catching sight of opponents. At Off the Wall Adventures, players explore 15 acres of play area, including a three-story fort and five-man speedball field designed to test players' stamina and skill.
The indoor and outdoor attractions at Easy Street Family Fun Center make it their mission to entertain visitors both young and old. Driven to succeed by Honda motors, single and double gasoline-powered go-karts whip around an outdoor track during seven-minute heats, speeding down straightaways, roaring through turns, and dodging spiked tortoise shells. The 18-hole mini golf course draws the eye with creative scenery such as a downed, half-submerged plane, and each hole takes players up hills, around rocks, and over bridges in search of low scores. Inside Easy Street lies an arcade with 60 games and an indoor gym where kids 8 and younger can pretend to be intrepid explorers climbing a mountain made of jungle-gym parts. After fun and games, the snack bar kindly offers to refuel families and friends with pizza, burgers, and high-octane ice cream.
