Suburban Philadelphia is the heart of the helicopter industry, where most helicopters in the United States are raised and bred. So it's fitting that the American Helicopter Museum was built here in 1996, showcasing a collection of aircraft that spans 70 years.
Size: This 20,000-square-foot hangar holds 35 rotor-wing aircraft
Eye Catcher: The Bell 47D-1/H-13D Sioux, made famous by the '70s TV show M*A*S*H
Don't Miss: The V-22 Osprey, a unique tiltrotor aircraft that combines the vertical takeoff and landing capabilities of a helicopter with the speed of a plane?the only one of its kind on public display
Hands-On Experiments: Guests can climb into several of the museum's helicopters to feel what it's like in the captain's seat of a whirlybird
Pro Tip: Visitors can take five-minute helicopter rides on some weekends
Special Events: In October, the museum hosts Rotorfest, an all-helicopter air show
The certified personal trainers and registered dietitians at Marino's Body Shop strive to help their clients hit lean fitness goals with scientifically calibrated athletic training, weight loss, and muscle building programs designed to keep them safe and motivated. In addition to personal training sessions, the staff leads teams through a metabolic group coaching program that includes such exercises as flipping giant tires and small submarines. They also work with high-school athletes to build sport-specific strength and stamina for a more successful season. When not working out with clients, the shop's fitness experts show the ropes to future trainers and physical therapists while leading continuing education classes.
It isn't always easy to find time to workout. Anytime Fitness accommodates their members' diverse workout schedules by giving them access to fitness equipment 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. The facility is monitored day and night by a security system, and members can enter whenever they wish using their own key rather than answering three riddles posed by a troll living under the doormat. Once inside, they can enjoy the gym’s many amenities, from plate-loaded strength equipment and private showers to hydromassage tables and TV-equipped cardio machines. Members can also augment their workout regimens with group fitness classes and health plans designed by Anytime Fitness's expert staff.
At MMAXOUT Fitness, certified trainers fuse high-impact circuit workouts with the punishing training techniques of MMA fighters. A sample class might find students transitioning from slicing upper cuts through the air to dropping down and pounding out mountain climbers and muay thai elbow strikes against a pad on the ground. Each week focuses on a different muscle group, helping participants build a balanced, toned body. Instructors challenge their students to dig deep, leading the charge through vocal shouts of encouragement and silent yet stirring kabuki movement pieces.
