Beach Bound & Down maintains a fleet of sand-friendly cruisers that visitors can pedal along Cocoa Beach's scenic waterfront sights and sun-splashed beaches. The big bikes feature mounted GoPro HD cameras, which capture jaunts on video for easy uploading to Facebook or a highly specific dating website. Riders can snag a fat tire cruiser two blocks south of Ron Jons on Hwy A1A. While out on the paths, explorers take in the lively aromas of saltwater air while basking in the warm pulse of sun on their skin.

Every instructor at Calema Windsurfing and Watersports knows his or her stuff, and not just because they all hold U.S. Sailing certifications. Each one has personally trained with Calema's owner Tinho Dornellas, a master instructor who also designed the first surf ski with John Byde, whose father later patented it. Dornellas knows water sports like the back of his hands?which he probably used to make whatever surfboard he's currently riding.

Dornellas started using fiberglass composites to shape his own kayaks, surfboards, and windsurfing boards in the 1970s, and he and his wife Susie (a former windsurfing student) have kept up with advances in the field. Today, for instance, the shop also rents standup paddleboards, riding a resurgence in the Hawaiian sport.

Calema is ideally located for just about any aquatic activity, except maybe kraken-fishing. The Atlantic Ocean stretches to the east, and the Banana River flows right by the store, letting kayaks and standup paddle boards float straight into waters shard by dolphins and manatees. Beyond gear rentals and instruction, Calema also hosts windsurfing races and the annual Calema Midwinters Windsurfing Festival.

Bows, mounted game heads, and military memorabilia decorate the walls at Action Gun & Archery, but this instructional facility's archery equipment isn't just for show. Staff instructors teach one-on-one, hands-on lessons that cover the basics of hunting and target-shooting. Practice is held on the facility's 20-yard indoor archery and crossbow range, which offers a chance to shoot at real targets. On the other hand, customers can aim for digital targets—a Techno HUNT simulator lets users practice their bow technique on virtual, moving prey without the danger of touching a weird forest bug. Action Gun & Archery also houses a shop filled with Victory arrows and bows by brands such as Bowtech, Hoyt, and Mathews. Not all of the wares are pre-made and name-brand though: the shop's technicians craft custom arrows and bow-strings upon request, and also repair compound and traditional bows.

Jess and Dano Kinnee love cycling, whether on mountain or road terrain. Drawing on a lifetime of work in bike shops, Dano opened Greenway Bicycles to help spread his cycling pastime deeper into central Florida. Today his shop deals in a diverse array of bikes from Mongoose to Schwinn. As a certified bicycle mechanic, he can also perform tune-ups and install modifications on any bike, from adding new chains and trueing wheels to replacing the playing cards in the spokes. When cyclists need new gear, Greenway has a selection of bike gear from sunglasses to cycling shoes to choose from. The shop is also located right on a Florida Greenway trail, making it a convenient stop for cyclists before or during scenic rides.
