With studios in East Greenbush and West Sand Lake, the Isabelle School of Dance has introduced the joy of dance to thousands of local children of all ages and has helped them build confidence and make memories for over two decades. Classes offered in ballet, tap, jazz, modern, hip hop, and fitness for ages 3 through adult.
Saratoga Savoy Center of Dance's cabinet of instructors teaches hip-swinging classes in a variety of styles to partner-less dancers and matched sets of all levels and ages. Fox trot, waltz, and rumba through comprehensive ballroom lessons, or perfect the lindy hop in swing classes, wherein students learn a bombastic club-style dance executed to rockabilly, big-band, and jazz music. Club Latin, set to salacious tunes, teaches hips to keep time during the salsa, merengue, and bachata, without getting legs as tangled as the heartstrings of a newly single fourth grader. Bodies bump to newfangled urban beats in fast-paced hip-hop classes, or learn to maintain balance and connection with a partner in the Argentine tango.
With decades of experience in jazz, tap, lyrical, and hip-hop dance to go with teaching certifications from Dance Masters of America, the instructors at All-Stars Dance Center help students glide and stomp through classes in a variety of styles. They work with students of all abilities, refining skills in age-appropriate subject areas such as boys’ hip-hop, tiny tots, and adult tap. Aside from the regular class schedule, special programs in competitive dance and musical-theater training afford committed dancers the opportunity to learn performance techniques such as jazz hands and the classical worm.
When they aren’t leading formal dance lessons, the studio’s instructors guide adults through Zumba and yoga workouts. All classes take place on the hardwood floors of a professional studio that features three air-conditioned dance rooms, a waiting room, and viewing windows through which tennis shoes gaze jealously at their sleeker counterparts.
The Conservatory instructs students of all ages and skill levels in ballet, pointe, modern,contemporary, jazz, tap, acrobatics, musical theater and hip-hop style dance, in a state-of-the-art facility in East Longmeadow Massachusetts. Students may choose a pre-professional, competitive, or recreational course of study.
The consortium of professional instructors at Fred Astaire Dance Studios, which was cofounded by the legendary toe tapper himself, shepherds students of all ages and skill levels through lessons that span the style spectrum. Low-pressure private sessions allow enthusiastic teachers to fine-tune individual students' techniques and form, using their expert eyes and mechanical dancing shoes preprogrammed to do the Charleston. Patrons can learn how to cavort through classic waltz and fox-trot romps or swivel through the modern steps of salsa, swing, or samba. For dancers hoping to hoof it up in a social setting, the group practice parties provide a one-night extravaganza of instruction, demonstrations, and amateur firewalking.
Certified by the Professional Dance Vision International Dance Association, Van Dance’s graceful groove gurus walk pupils of all experience levels through ballroom and Latin dance sessions. Under the tutelage of competitive dancers Nicole and John van Koetsveld, students of South American shimmying can learn to unleash passionate tangos, jubilant cha-chas, and seductive sambas, and aspiring waltzers can study how to count to three. For those lacing up their dancing shoes for the first time, Van Dance recommends sampling the American-style of smooth and rhythm dancing, since it utilizes many of the most fundamental moves and comes in handy at common social dance events and tense test rooms for the Connecticut Bar exam.
