The cozy store hosts a cornucopia of yarn balls and skeins, available in brands such as Plymouth, Brown Sheep, and Berroco and in myriad colors, thicknesses, textures, and blood types. Thin and delicate lace yarns ($8–$20) help fill out a doily collection, Malabrigo sock-yarns fan across frigid feet ($18.75), and a few coils of Lamb's Pride wool yarn ($8.50) helps needle-wielders to knit a model sheep or imitation alpaca. The store's extensive supply of needles enhances crafts large and small, and its selection of patterns and books helps take the guesswork out of garnishing. The staff, eager to answer any knitting or crocheting questions, aids indecisive crafters in choosing the perfect tools for the job at hand.

Sun pours past window planters full of flowers, rippling across the handcrafted bowls and vases that line The Broken Mold’s canary-hued walls. Shelves and tables groan beneath an array of watercolors, acrylics, and oils. Artists seeking a workspace away from the narcissistic bowls of fruit that fill most homes practice their craft in The Broken Mold’s studios, and pupils of all levels build their skills by enrolling in lessons or by observing skilled studio potters. The Broken Mold sells and showcases the work of local artists with events throughout the year.
A renowned exhibitor of contemporary art, The Arts Center cultivates creative potential in adults and children through art classes and events that emphasize hands-on learning. Members receive discounts on arts classes—up to $25 off kids classes—an opportunity to exhibit their art at the annual members’ Fence Show, discounts at local businesses, and the right to sing in the gallery when nobody’s around. Patrons with a taste for food can enroll in courses on the culinary arts, and aspiring artists can transform stuttering line work into fluid brushstrokes via drawing and painting courses.
With machines set up in rows to encourage competition, many ordinary gyms cater to men's bodies and psychology, right down to the urinals that were "accidentally" installed in the women's locker room. At Curves, you'll move around a circuit of hydraulic resistance machines that have been designed to work with women's bodies and promote weight loss, protect against osteoporosis, and deal with arthritis. An experienced trainer is always nearby to help manage your machine maneuvering and your muscle making. Instead of fiddling with weight stacks and losing your momentum, the hydraulic machines use your body weight and fitness level to create resistance that matches your abilities, decreasing the risk of soreness or injury. Because traditional lift-and-lower motions create bulky muscles, each machine uses push-and-pull motions to create toned, lean muscles perfect for crushing a grapefruit without looking like you can.
The signature treatment at Naturally Slender U, the body wrap, gets its power from a decades-old mineral formula. The solution, which was invented by Victoria Morton, seeps into the client’s skin via elastic strips in order to make it firm, like a father’s tone of voice when he says, “No fair, I don’t want to be It anymore.” Measurements before and after each 45-minute wrap record the inch loss that results from the treatment, and supplements such as MSM—an organic form of sulfur that fights inflammation—and the "Flat Tummy Additive" encourage slimming results. In addition to wraps, Naturally Slender U administers IonCleanse foot baths, which are supposed to remove toxins from the body via the feet.
