The specialized tot play arena provides ample room for ages 4 and younger ($5 admission for ages 2–3, up to $8.50 admission for age 4) to practice toddling and future circus aerials. Children looking for long-term commitments to fun can invest in 10 play sessions with the 10-pass play card, and youngsters who met on Internet play-dating sites can bond over admission for two (up to a $17 value) and make small talk about past ball pits over two popcorns (a $1 value each) and two juices (a $1 value each). The studio of Got Pole Academy LLC radiates a purple glow as the light filters through the violet curtains and fills the room. Poles spaced evenly throughout the space reflect the sultry light, giving the whole room a cool, mysterious feel as women start to arrive for their pole technique or pole fitness classes. The instructors—many of whom found their way here through gymnastics and professional dance programs—lead a variety of alternative fitness classes, all with an emphasis and respect for the art of pole dancing.
Above all, the classes are fun. Dancers Chyna, DoLove, and Elle "Honeypot" Birchfield show folks the tricks of the trade for pulling off gravity-defying maneuvers, including inversions and twirls. Along the way, students build the core muscles necessary to lift themselves off the ground and carry out slow-motion tricks. In addition to pole fitness, they lead students in sexy chair, floor work, and boot camp classes. They also throw parties for groups to celebrate birthdays, upcoming weddings, or the end of a successful expedition to the North Pole.
