Helping students for more than 33 years, Huntington assesses children's linguistic and mathematical aptitude to isolate individual areas of improvement. With an emphasis on basic reading, writing, math, and Enigma-decoding skills, Huntington's talented tutors administer a comprehensive series of 6–11 tests designed to gauge each student's abilities relative to age and grade level. Following the academic evaluation, Huntington educators will sit down for a meeting with parents to discuss test results, as well as present an individualized improvement plan catered to their child's specific needs. By isolating potential gaps in the student's reading comprehension, phonics, or vocabulary, Huntington hopes to give students the study skills and confidence they need to one day out-riddle a sphinx. While not a part of today's deal, students can choose to continue their brain cell-broadening journey with Huntington through one-on-one tutoring sessions ($55/hr) and exam-prep one-on-one tutoring ($65/hr).

The staff members at Sylvan Learning's numerous centers understand that each child learns differently. Therefore, they don’t try to implement a uniform tutoring system; instead, they design custom lesson programs based on the results of a skills assessment using diagnostic tools and one-on-one interviews.
Tutors work with students from pre-kindergarten through grade 12, illuminating topics ranging from basic reading and writing to remembering complex algebraic formulas without having them tattooed on your chest. Many of Sylvan’s instructors work in local schools, so they are intimately familiar with common curricula and understand how to gear lessons toward optimal results. Camps and after-school and summer classes can ready high-schoolers for the rigors of the ACT or the SAT, or they can help students to wow college-admissions officers with their superior essay-writing skills.
After spending years teaching students from the seventh grade to the postgraduate level, Dr. Raymond and Eileen Huntington opened their eponymous learning center in 1977 with one simple mission: give every individual the best education possible. They crafted a robust curriculum that could cater to any academic need, set a code of ethics for their instruction, and hired a cadre of like-minded tutors to help pupils excel in school.
It’s a formula that has proven successful: today, the accredited center’s hundreds of locations hone skills in subjects ranging from basic phonics to calculus. The center's six-step tutoring system also involves parents in the process, building a unique program for each child that nurtures their sense of accomplishment. Test preparation helps applicants confidently take exams for admission to high school, college, or Starfleet.
