Exercise is challenging, and people frequently give up on their fitness routines. How do you keep clients motivated?
Our workouts are different every day. We change it up with new movements and patterns to avoid boredom, and participants learn functional movements that help them with everyday activities. They also learn new skills, such as gymnastic movements and olympic lifting, which require a lot of practice to master.
Sweating to the oldies is acceptable, but sweating to the blues less so. Do you find that certain styles and genres of music generate more intense workouts?
Dance music, rock, and pop. We listen to anything with a great beat.
Besides working out, what else can clients do to spend their time at your facility?
Yoga, kids CrossFit, community events, and birthday parties.

We are the first and only women-only CrossFit studio in Colorado. We do offer two co-ed classes each week to accommodate families, and have a full service kids CrossFit program.
As a wife and mom, certified trainer Victoria McCullough helps women of all fitness levels kick-start sputtering metabolisms through 30- and 45-minute workouts. In spite of her military background, she motivates her students with encouragement rather than intimidation. Victoria augments the fat-burning effects of boot camps with nutritional advice and by teaching workout-at-home routines.
Beth and Jim Trammell started 5280 Gymnastics to share their love of gymnastics with students young and old, novice and expert, casual and competitive. They assembled an elite team of coaches that trained Olympic gymnast Sasha Artemev and placed graduates on the gymnastics teams at Stanford University, into officer's education at West Point, and onto the diving team at Northwestern University. Under this refined tutelage, the two USA Gymnastics teams that regularly train within 5280's confines took home awards at regional, state, and national levels of competition.
The owners and coaches recognize that not everyone desires to train for peak levels of gymnastics competition, and so the range of classes encompasses plenty of other options, including casual, confidence-inspiring play for tots and free running and parkour classes for older students. During the summer, daily camps keep kids busy during sunny hours with athletic games and arts-and-crafts projects such as building a balance beam out of popsicle sticks.
Peak Athletics gives parents a child-free four hours on a Saturday night by supervising and entertaining their kids in a safe and active atmosphere during Parents Night Out. Entrust the center's staff with future presidents and former sandbox dictators, as they engage in games, open gym time, and Dadaist multimedia art projects, while eating pizza and making friends with up to 100 kids. The Peak Athletics facility covers 23,000 square feet of space and features two cheerleading spring floors, two in-ground trampolines, and an antigravity chess chamber. Parents Night Out occurs on selected Saturdays from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.; check the website for a list of upcoming dates.
The coaches at Pinnacle Gymnastics don't only train competitive teams—they also train tumblebunnies, wiggleworms, flippers, and twisters. These are the nicknames given to preschool students, who learn basic gymnastic movements and hone their motor skills during classes engineered for toddlers. Older gymnasts can take recreational courses as well, which are divided by gender and level (beginner, intermediate, and advanced). These cover gymnastics fundamentals and how to build routines, with separate sessions for tumbling and cheer. Meanwhile, students who do hope to compete can aim for a spot on Pinnacle's gymnastics or cheerleading team.
