At Salon Amore, stylists complement transformative hair, nail, and body treatments with personal attention and modern sensibilities. Products such as Kenra and Pureology cameo in stylistic overhauls as hairdressers trim and shape strands into glamorous hairdos and highlight strands like a college student reading Cliff's Notes. More extensive treatments, such as keratin smoothing care and hair extensions, round out the salon menu, and spa services such as facials, nailcare, and massages invite age-defying specialists to drop their magic below the forehead and give the entire body a stunning glow. The salon also hosts an in-shop boutique with an eclectic assortment of jewelry, lotions, gifts, and decor items.
Denny Kemp began his styling career as one of the first students under Horst Rechelbacher, the founder of Aveda. This student has since become the master to his own proteg?s, passing on what he has learned within his own salon's walls, decorated with carefully selected artwork, some of it being the product of Denny?s own genius. Denny's brigade of innovative and artistic stylists spritzes clients with professional-grade products from Shu Uemura, K?rastase, Bumble and bumble, and Eminence, as well as the Dermalogica skincare line. They're also versed in smoothing frizz with keratin formulas and performing balayage and micro-foiling.
Author and Juut SalonSpa owner David Wagner channels a childhood spent watching nature’s beauty into his Aveda salon’s eight locations. The studio stylists and other staff members, many of whom benefit from the company’s extensive training program, perform services beneath shelves laden with Aveda products. The botanically sourced elixirs repair and sculpt hair naturally without subjecting it to other products’ unpleasant chemicals or a robot hairdresser’s endless questions about love.
Sunlight streams through tall windows onto Tranquility Spa Salon's commodious facility, where beauty specialists flex their expertise to spiff up clients' appearances. Inside, cushy thrones and domesticated clouds cosset patrons as stylists craft new hairdos, manicurists adorn nails, and massage therapists soothe muscles. Multitalented aestheticians offer a variety of traditional and trendy services, from waxing and facials to lash extensions and chemical peels. Throughout the space, distressed woodwork and rustic wall art exude a shabby-chic aesthetic.
Select salons offer Shellac polish, which can last?chip-free?for weeks. Read on for our look at this resilient manicure style.
After five years of testing and development, CND unveiled its secret weapon. It was virtually impenetrable?a veritable suit of armor. And it was just waiting to fall into the right hands. Dubbed Shellac, CND's new nail polish could last 14 days?336 hours?without a chip or smudge. The formula itself was a hybrid of regular and gel nail polish, combining the thick, durable layers of gel with the easy, brush-on application of ordinary lacquer. Between each of four coats, a special, low-watt UV lamp cured the Shellac, hardening it and leaving it dry within seconds. After a single appointment, customers could leave the salon with a gleaming manicure that could last for weeks.
Available in more than 45 shades, Shellac polish is no longer new technology, but only trained technicians in a certified salon are eligible to apply it. The UV curing process?safe for the skin?is so effective that Shellac polish must be removed at the salon using strong acetone, most often by slipping a special soaking pad over each finger for a few minutes. Although the polish may not last on dry or flaky nails, healthy fingers generally retain their shine, only losing their color as the roots of new nails start to grow in from the cuticle.
The stylists at Merrill Hair Designers, Inc. strive to heal damaged strands with chlorine- and mineral-removal treatments that restore hair's resilience and shine. Working with a fresh slate, the team can then consult with clients to settle on a new look. For instance, a Brazilian Blowout could smooth out frizz for straighter locks, or extensions can add length more efficiently tying barbells to each strand. To help friends find a flattering cut, clients can even throw a group party complete with pastries and beverages.
The salon also offers nail and spa services, from acne-fighting facials to therapeutic massages. Every skincare package, whether it's an oxygen facial with fruit enzymes or a chemical peel, is highly customized to suit specific skin types.
