There are parkland golf courses, and then there are golf courses set within the US National Parks System. The 18-hole layout at Astorhurst Country Club abuts Tinkers Creek in the Cuyahoga Valley National Park, where it immerses golfers in picturesque surroundings while challenging them to hit their way over elevation changes, think through strategic quandaries, and ignore cloud formations just begging to be interpreted. At 6,138 yards, the course doesn't overwhelm anyone with extreme length, relying instead upon challenges to shot-shaping, control, and discipline that keep the course accessible to every level of golfer.

Kayaks glide through the water of Chautauqua Lake, setting a serene pace with nature. Trees sway in the breeze along the banks as small fish peep out of the water in search of food and better shellphone reception. Evergreen Outfitters makes outings like these possible by renting kayaks, canoes, and standup paddleboards and teaching guests how to safely use them. Each rental comes with lifejackets and cartop tie downs so boats can find their way to favorite watery locations. Paddlers looking for new surroundings can enlist Evergreen Outfitters's expert guides, who lead paddle tours on Lake Erie, full-moon trips on Chautauqua Lake, and explorations through the lagoons of Presque Isle State Park.
Cobble Hills Golf & Ski Club has seen a lot of changes since it first opened as Skee-Hi alpine ski resort in 1963. What started as a humble chalet, two T-bars, and four rope tows has blossomed into an updated facility spanning 110 gently rolling acres framed by pristine pine forests. After a total renovation and the addition of the David Gurd–designed par 70 golf course in 1990, the ski club was enhanced with a quad chairlift, grooming equipment, and upgraded lighting. The intermediate hill has also been reshaped into an 800-foot-long snow-tubing area complete with a magic-carpet lift, which tows visitors up 100 vertical feet—the same height as most young yetis’ tree houses. The resort's new name reflects the rugged terrain: rocky hills and boulders add bucolic charm to views of the London skyline to the southwest and the Oxford County countryside to the southeast.
Like a dolphin on a mission, a devoted jet-skier won't be slowed down by waves. At Deep Wave Rentals, the lake-lubbers can kit out adventurers with their choice of jet ski or kayak, then send them out to frolic in the freshwater depths. The jet-ski stable is equipped to serve Port Stanley, Port Franks, Grand Bend, Erieau, and Sarnia, and can be delivered to those or other locations for an additional fee. Deep Wave also hosts parties throughout the summer, including beach barbecues, volleyball tournaments, and live concerts.
