The tea aficionados at J-Tea personally visit small farms in Taiwan and China, sampling a wide variety of seasonal oolong teas for stocking their cozy shop. The exact menu of specialty oolong, herbal, and green teas varies according to the season and the crop, including the chocolaty aged wu-yi, which is stored in earthen-clay vessels for 15 years to eliminate exposure to light and tea-crazed howler monkeys ($3/cup, $10/0.94 oz.). Infuse a hovering nose with the nutty aromas of smoke and wood of the charcoal-roasted oolong ($2/cup, $10/1.87 oz.), or savor the fruity latticework of the Emerald City oolong #38 ($3/cup, $8/oz.). Also available is an assortment of brew devices, tea mats, and storage vessels that transform any kitchen into a teahouse and keep the purity of tea from being corrupted by the rebellious teenage coffee beans in the next cabinet.

Perugino replicates the leisurely elegance of a European coffee house with warm brews and handmade pastries. Perugino's experienced baristas pour tall glasses of 11 imported and domestic wines, including Wachenheim Pfalz chardonnay ($7.75/glass) and Ca' del Sarto barbera d'Alba ($5.75/glass), along with 18 teas, including Indian vanilla, jasmine blossom, and imperial orange spice—a blend of black teas with orange peel, cinnamon, and clove. Contrasting the teas' fruity flavors, each mug of house-brewed cappuccino rests under a blanket of swirling foam. Theater-goers and afternoon shoppers can sit under the multicolored tapestries dotting the café's brick walls, munching on an Il Marche panini with prosciutto, provolone, black pepper, and spinach ($7.50) while surfing the free wireless Internet and building pastry castles.

Chase Gardens Cafe and Bistro's owners clearly take pride in the details. They hang strings of twinkling lights on their eatery's back walls, which are brushed with cityscape silhouettes, murals of porticos, and the outline of a majestic mountain range. The front wall is almost completely covered in picture windows that allow sunlight to stream in as patrons nurse cups of espresso.

On a given day, their soup specials, such as heirloom sausage or organic beef and barley stew, steam beside delicate quiches and hearty sandwiches. When they're not perusing the Internet on free WiFi, guests can question the barista about Chase's wine selection or bate them for information on how they get all those guffaws into their trademark Snickers drink.
