Aradia Fitness provides a welcoming, supportive environment for women of every age and fitness level to explore their sexy side while simultaneously subjecting all sides to a total-body cardio workout. Pole Dancing and Sensual Movement teaches basic sensual moves and pole work over the course of four weekly sessions, allowing students to build on what they've learned from week to week. Classes combine elements of ballet, yoga, and striptease (though you won't be shedding any leotards or turtlenecks in class) to strengthen your core, tone muscles, increase flexibility, and keep you limber. As the seductress embedded deep within makes her way to the surface, you'll engage rarely used muscles, sometimes resulting in day-after pangs of soreness, sudden Facebook friending of said muscles, and a confident new saunter.
Stepping to the tune of her husband's guitar, celebrated flamenco performer Rosario Ancer bridges continents with her knowledge of dance. She trained in Spain and toured in multiple countries before opening Centro Flamenco in 1989, where she and her instructors pull from cultural, musical, and choreographic teachings to guide their students. All the while, Rosario deftly walks the tightrope between authenticity and evolution. Her regular travels to workshops and shows in Spain imbue her lessons with history, yet she hopes to see the art form flourish in experimental ways, inciting guests to stretch their creative muscles during classes.
Rosario exposes amateurs and advanced dancers alike to flamenco's commanding rhythms. As her pupils progress, they learn more about the social significance behind the moves, and eventually sync their kicks to stylized guitar strums. Whether they are mastering simple beats or preparing for a theatre piece, the studio sets them on a structured track, which ends when their smouldering glance can set a tablecloth on fire.
Frustrated with the often intimidating and unwelcoming atmosphere afforded to nonprofessional dancers in dance classes, Jane Stevens
founded iDance. Jane designed her studio to be fitness-oriented and engage people from a variety of backgrounds. Five years later, Jane upholds her original goals of egalitarian dance both by employing a team of friendly and motivating instructors and by offering classes that cater to pupils of all abilities. Hints of Jane?s background as both a skilled dancer and dedicated group-fitness instructor can be found in the studio as instructors lead classes ranging from traditional movement methods such as ballet and jazz to classes that fuse fitness and dance including cardio salsa, yoga dance, and underwater hokey pokey.
