The bakers at Mmmm…. Cupcakes whip up artfully decorated handheld treats in a scrumptious spectrum of traditional, gluten-free, and vegan varieties. Utilizing 30% less sugar and a full line of organic ingredients, the bakers craft cakes ranging from full-sized desserts to easily weaponized cupcake push-pops. All baking is done in the shop’s kosher-certified kitchen, allowing customers of all ilks to chomp into freshly baked bites of Butterfinger, cran-orange, or guava con queso cupcakes. Bakers also teach the basic skills of custom cupcakery in one-hour lessons, in which students learn how to decorate and devour cupcakes tastier than a fresh-baked vending machine.

Long gone are the days of scraps-of-lace humanoid toy dollies for little girls. Today's dollies are cake balls—spheres of moist, heavenly cake, topped with frosting and coated in a firm cover of chocolate or vanilla. These handheld treats come in 12 flavors; with your Groupon poised to dab frosting from your lips, call up Little Miss Sweet Tooth and choose two flavors to go into your batch of 12. Plain Jane is a popular choice (vanilla cake and frosting in a vanilla cover), and a Southern Belle (red-velvet cake topped with cream-cheese frosting in a dark-chocolate bonnet) offers up some tonal contrast. New flavors include the Backstabber, peanut-butter cake with chocolate frosting dipped in a dark-chocolate helmet, and the Che Boluda, chocolate cake and dulce de leche swathed in dark chocolate.

The life cycle of Cakefetti's handmade cupcakes begins with one of six base flavors—vanilla, red velvet, chocolate, marble, carrot, and strawberry. Once cupped, the treats head into ovens fine-tuned for firing them to deliciously moist perfection. Then, the bakers slather them with a layer of vanilla, chocolate, cream-cheese, or buttercream frosting. When ready, cupcakes can be picked up at the Kendall location Monday through Saturday, or, for customers within 3 miles of 33186, delivered free of charge via car or dessert cannon.

Ali's Sweet Treats bakes and decorates photo-emblazoned cookies customizable for any occasion. After customers send one high-resolution photo file via email or holographic carrier pigeon, Ali's army of confectionary connoisseurs turn the image into edibles baked with real vanilla and pure butter with no trans fat. Choose to overlay a baby photo, hand-drawn design, or mug shot of Cookie Monster onto 2.5-inch or 3.5-inch round cookies, or 3.5-inch rectangular cookies. Each order is then packaged in a clear cellophane bag and tied with a colorful satin ribbon. Any design can be cropped to the customer's specification, and patrons may choose to add up to three wise words of wisdom to the design for no additional cost.

Vn + Cf + Mw. A chemical equation likely to baffle scientists, unless they're familiar with Chill-N Nitrogen Ice Cream's periodic table of flavors. Then they'd know that the "equation" translates to vanilla ice cream, chocolate fudge, and marshmallows?resulting in a sort-of s'more sundae that should be kept far away from campfires.

Chill-N's science-class vibe is inspired by the ice cream itself, which the shop creates by flash-freezing ice-cream or yogurt with pure nitrogen. Customers start by picking either ice cream or yogurt as the base, then flavor it with natural ingredients like pure vanilla or some of the 60 pounds of Nutella that Chill-N goes through each week. They also get to blend in any of the nearly 20 mix-n's on the periodic table, including little-known elements such as gummy bears (Gb) and Pop Tarts (Pt). The shop mixes it all together, then adds a hefty blast of liquid nitrogen. Because everything is frozen so quickly, it produces ice crystals much smaller than any you'll find in mass-produced ice cream and incorporates almost no oxygen, resulting in a thick, silky mixture that the Miami New Times called "the creamiest ice cream you'll have in Miami."

With more than 1,000 different types of cheese made within its borders, France is known as the cheese capital of the world. So naturally, it's the country from which The Cheese Course imports most of its inventory?75 types to be exact. These include brie de meaux, fromager d'affinois truffles, and roquefort, one of France's oldest cheeses and one that is still ripened in the same cool, damp caves of Combalou.

Of course, France isn't the only region represented at The Cheese Course. The European-style cheese shop introduces patrons to more than 150 artisanal cheeses imported from dairy farms all over the world. Most of the cheese makers use the same cheese-making methods that have been passed down through their families for generations via email. The house cheesemonger guides patrons through the cheese-selection process and teaches them how best to serve each one.

The shop also shows off its wares in various bistro sandwiches, including gourmet grilled cheese and the popular prosciutto di parma. This 14-month-aged, imported Italian meat gets its nutty flavor from the parmigiano-reggiano whey in the pig's diet.
