When a first-time visitor steps into Sale Rack, she rolls up her sleeves, beelines to the well-organized racks, and rummages through a trove of eclectic designer dresses, jeans, and shirts marked down 60%–80% off retail prices. This ritual—what the recycled-clothing-boutique owner calls "a modern day treasure hunt"—may take a bit more patience than the average store experience, but the bounty can be glorious: vintage Louis Vuitton bags, Citizens of Humanity denim, Miu Miu blouses, a never-been-worn Marc Jacobs dress, and anti-gravity space wear by NASA. Though labels often bear big names, staff members scrutinize every item to ensure its fresh, bold style and prime condition. The resulting apparel, accessories, and home-décor items have wowed even professional eyes, grabbing a Boutique of the Week title from College Fashionista and mentions on Miami Fashion Blog and DailyCandy.
This Target, located in the Dadeland Station shopping center, has been remodeled and updated to include a Fresh Market, complete with extensive grocery and food offerings. Now a larger, more spacious outpost of the massive chain, this Target provides a wide selection and offering of merchandise for everyday life with shoes, electronics, and hardware. Shoppers can expect the usual discount sections that run alongside the typical housewares, fashions, back-to-school supplies and household goods with the $1 section. A large multi-level adjacent parking garage makes life a little easier, while the in-store Starbucks is perfect for a mid-shopping pick me up.
Colorful neo-pop Brittos, a baby's onesie, and even a bat. These are just a few of the things Frames USA has framed, because, as they say, they can frame anything, except for wrongfully accused civilians. In their shop, framing options are nearly endless with more than 800 samples to mix and match. With everything from basic gold frames to elegant mahogany frames, the framers enhance and preserve memories. To match those mementos with the right frame, they craft one-of-a-kind pieces or use high-quality, pre-made frames. They can even design a picture wall. Picture walls consist of myriad frames strategically placed to give a collection a more powerful impact. Gifted with artful eyes, they consult with clients to get the most aesthetically pleasing display for their items.

Besides making clients happy, what do you like most about your job?
Working with glass is so therapeutic that it has helped us and many of our customers get through some tough times. The uncertain economy inspired some of our customers to sell their home-made pieces and earn extra money. But my favorite part of this job is seeing the pride on my students' faces when they finish their artwork.
When and how did you first develop a passion for your work?
When I left my abusive husband, Rowe Art Studios gave me a place where I could escape the emotional turmoil. After my first day working here, I started seeing the world through different eyes, and my whole life changed. Instead of focusing on my problems, I focused on recreating what I saw in glass. The longer I worked here, the more I learned. It's amazing how many different ways there are to work with glass, and how you can combine different methods into new and exciting pieces. This is true whether you're making a panel with stained glass or a piece of jewelry with fused glass.
Is there anything else you want to add that we didn't cover?
This is a field where you can try just one technique or many. The advantage of coming to Rowe Studios is that we not only teach, but we have a large selection of supplies. If we don't have what you need, we're happy to order for you. And if you're new to a field, we're always happy to help with advice and recommendations.
As a student at the University of California, Santa Barbara, Andrea Beloff studiously refined her abstract oil-painting skills. But everything changed in her last year, when she learned the art of Japanese papermaking from one of its master practitioners, Hiromi Katayama. Although still sporting the occasional oil painting or watercolor, her work mostly consists of handmade paper collages, which depict the tropical landscapes that inspire her most.
Along with festivals and shows from California to New York, Andrea exhibits her award-winning pieces at her own gallery, where patrons can purchase reproductions. When she’s not generating said artworks, Andrea nurtures budding artists through her Paint Your Heart Out workshops, where students create their own paintings and collages.
