Hosted by former Dallas Cowboys Jay Novacek and Kevin Smith, Sportz Partnerz's ESPN "Lunch with a Legend" events invite fans to meet, greet, and eat with a selection of NFL players and veterans in private luncheons with no more than 100 attendees. Rudy's chefs barbecue infinite amounts of brisket, sausage, and chicken to fuel mingling among fans and football stars. The intimate event allows lunchers to get close enough to smell the fame for 90 minutes of posing for photographs, listening to NFL stories, and snagging barbecue-sauce-smeared autographs. The roster of NFL guests will vary by day and location, and a complete list will be available upon registration.
The mission of the Family Resource Center of North Texas is to strengthen and support families through education. Family life education programs promote healthy births, and prevent child abuse, child injury, relationship violence and substance abuse.
Sometimes, the emphasis on a global-scale charity can overshadow the smaller needs found within a community, such as stocking a local food pantry or funding physical activities for underprivileged youth. Punch Buggy Productions aims to fill that void by putting on not-for-profit events throughout the greater-Dallas area. While catering to families with fun and physical activities, the organization bolsters the local economy by enlisting the help of small businesses.
At 7 Notes, musical mentors come in many different forms. Formal instructors share the responsibility of teaching with parents, who attend music lessons alongside their children per the Yamaha method. The Yamaha method focuses just as much on classroom environment as it does on the actual skills being taught. Children's parents are encouraged to actively participate at the group lessons which, instead of sticking to one instrument, explore a wide range beginning with the keyboard and children's own vocal cords. Along with seven or nine other students, the kids learn solfège, a musical language that helps them internalize pitch. Once they've matured enough to understand musical basics and jive well in an ensemble setting, they can decide on which instrument they'd like to explore in depth.
A similar approach called the Suzuki method guides piano and violin lessons. This blend of ear training and note reading also requires parents take an active role, mandating their presence at each lesson and mastering classes just for adults. The method also approaches music as a language, one that can be learned organically when teachers tweak lesson content to fit each child.

The name encompasses not only the mission, but the scope as well. Kids Matter International works to show children that they are important even if they live in poverty—even if they were abandoned or orphaned—setting their sights as close to home as Northern Texas and as far away as India and Honduras. In Texas, its work is apparent in children heading to school with new clothing and supplies. In India, an orphanage gives children a home through political unrest and natural disaster. And in Honduras, the organization provides transitional housing for young girls who have faced abuse.
Yet the people behind Kids Matter International know that when facing a foe as intractable as childhood poverty, no one can solve the problem alone. That’s why the organization—which comprises just four full-time staff members—teams up with hundreds of volunteers and dozens of corporate partners to put on programs that directly benefit disadvantaged children.
