After a revelatory trip to Grand Teton, Yellowstone, and Glacier National Parks in 2006, outdoor enthusiasts Laura and Alan Falk cast off the shackles of software careers to begin new lives as tour guides and planners. The pair created standard tours to introduce travelers to the area's local wineries, gorges, waterfalls, and historic towns, as well as custom tours that let natives and visitors design their own experiences based on personal preferences and hunches about the location of buried treasure. Past custom tours have included birthday scavenger hunts, bachelorette weekends, and private birthday celebrations with wine tastings. Experience! The Finger Lakes draws on more than 30 years of intimate local knowledge to create lasting memories in a thriving area replete with natural beauty, rich culture, and a captivating history.
As instructors move through the flowing postures of the Vinyasa style of yoga, the studio’s vintage oak floors gently creak in time. The constant movement builds up an internal heat in students' cores, reminiscent of the sunlight pouring through picture windows and reflecting off the yellow walls. These open sessions invite practitioners of any ability, although beginner level and advanced courses gear lessons to more specific needs and mats not quite ready to unroll all the way. Mighty Yoga’s mission is to openly welcome those seeking the gifts of yoga practice, lavished on not only the body in the form of increased flexibility, but also on the mind in the form of increased calmness. That’s why the studio’s instructors constantly repay those gifts by hosting donation-based workshops that give back to local, national, and international charities.
Ithaca Paintball's two fields challenge gamers of all ilk to remain paint-free while chasing friends and opponents through and around a variety of obstacles. Two friends or abstract artists can gear up and traipse through the wooded field, using nature's leafy pillars for cover before ducking behind bunkers or climbing through wooden structures placed throughout the adventurous timberland. Aesthetics-minded competitors can turn friends into sprinting Jackson Pollock paintings by dashing after them in the smaller, seven-person speedball field packed with close-range bunkers and designed for harried action. Ithaca Paintball is open year-round, allowing players the chance to pound the sounds of summer out in the key of paintball explosions or leave the snows of winter covered in a kaleidoscope of color.
Casual Elegance is how I like to describe Atwater. We are serious about our wine, but not snobbish about it. You can come in with friends and have a great tasting and then picnic outside or you can pick our brains and we can educate you about our area and business in depth. We will cater the tasting to your likes.
The corn maze's 3.5 miles of twisting pathways trace a pictorial pattern as they encircle wandering patrons, who usually take 45 minutes to two hours to re-emerge. Customers equipped with a flashlight can up the ante by navigating the agrarian labyrinth in the dark on Friday and Saturday nights or by evading its extraterrestrial caretakers when they descend to prune the walls. T-Burg Mini Golf challenges pintsize putters with an artfully landscaped 18-hole course and a corn maze with 3.5 miles of paths. Entrants of any age can nudge golf balls through sculpted green slopes and around mini hazards while sharpening their botanical know-how with views of more than 2,000 native plants. Like a downed gladiator who suddenly remembers the blowgun in his pocket, the course's 19th Plinko hole can remix player rankings moments before the game's conclusion.
