Tranquility Day Spa?s massage therapists, aestheticians, and nail technicians whisk visitors away on a cloud of relaxation with a menu of spa services and packages. The skincare team specializes in facials that remedy a variety of epidermal maladies, such as acne and the effects of aging, and nonsurgical facelifts that rely on enzymes and amino acids to stimulate collagen growth and improve skin's elasticity. The spa's arsenal of body-care treatments includes contouring wraps, scrubs, and eight types of massage, which treat pains caused by a stressful week at work or a long day of avoiding work by hiding the office water cooler.
Mystic spray-tan booths and three types of UV tanning beds imbue skins with radiant glows inside Flawless Tanning Spa. Groups of four or more can bronze themselves en masse during a spray-tanning party, which tints each partygoer with a custom hue. Alternatively, a Sudatonic body-wrap system cocoons bodies in carefully calibrated amounts of infrared energy in order to burn up to 1,400 calories and zero tuna casseroles during each session.
At the Tanning Spa, staff members harness King Midas?s gilded touch with custom airbrushing, Mystic spray tans, and a slew of UV beds. Sessions take place in private treatment rooms, fully stocked with chilled or heated aromatherapy towels, bathrobes, and Bose speakers for blasting favorite tunes or bingo calls. The spa?s automated Mystic booth spritzes bodies with a skin-dimming blend of aloe vera, DHA, and optional bronzer, or custom hues come courtesy of trained airbrush techs and Infinity Sun formula. For UV veneers, a diverse collection of tanning beds, including the Magic 636, swaddles upright or prone clients in bulbs culled from the sun's tulip fields.
EO Tan's technicians?or Tantresses, as the company calls them?bring a lot of flexibility to their work. Wielding high-volume, low-pressure air brushes, they can apply tans just about anywhere, whether stopping by someone's home or beating the sun to the punch at the beach. They also work out of various salon locations, where they cater to customers who prefer a more spa-like experience. They use a proprietary formula also called Tantress to bronze skin, specifically formulated to avoid producing the orange tint caused by some sunless tanning formulas.
Kristen Burtt's friends have always loved her back rubs. "For some reason, I could always feel the muscles with my hands," she says. "They knew what to do." She took that as a sign and went to school to improve her muscle-kneading prowess. Today, she taps into her natural gifts and education as she lavishes her clients with Swedish, deep-tissue, and sports massages. Her favorites are hot stone and lomi-lomi, a Hawaiian full-body massage that she gives with her forearms as clients recline on a bed of ukuleles.
Kristen keeps the lights dim and the music low as she kneads weary muscles within her private massage room, which she's outfitted in earthy browns, blacks, and mauves. She says that when she finishes each appointment, her clients emerged relaxed and focused. "I take the pains away so you can focus more on life," she says.
