What is the biggest mistake you see people make when trying to get fit on their own?
Lack of variety and [not incorporating] an element of fun. Being healthy should be energizing and make you feel better ... not stressed out or part of the daily grind.
When and how did you first develop a passion for fitness?
I started teaching aerobics soon after high school and completely fell in love with the way working out made me feel. I got my personal training certification soon after, and have been in the health industry since then. I started taking yoga about three years ago and immediately became hooked. It is challenging physically and mentally—the best workout I have found in the 20 years I have been in the fitness industry. I believe in its benefits 100%.
