The staff at Finger Lakes Spine & Body Works aims to improve patients on both the outside and inside. Chiropractors, acupuncturists, and massage therapists work to alleviate physical ailments that range from headaches to sciatica to insomnia. Their services include manual and instrument adjustments, herbs, and massages. A cosmetologist focuses on pampering bodies with mani-pedis and facials that use natural and non-toxic products.
When Michele Taber, a licensed cosmetologist of two decades, decided to open Meeshe’ Salon and Spa in her native county, the beautifier selected a waterfront Cayuga Lake location that exuded tranquility. Her salon and spa treatments transfer the natural serenity indoors with mani-pedis augmented by seaweed wraps and full-body scrubs that exfoliate with sea salt instead of the traditional tool, corrugated cardboard. A fleet of freshly updated tanning beds warm bodies to a beachy glow, and shears or wax rid bodies of excess hair.
Though Miracles' quirky and diversely talented staff of stylists, massage therapists, and aestheticians aims to lift patrons' spirits with beauty transformations, their work did not wholly inspire the salon's name—the beauty sanctuary's original location was inside an old church. Owner Kendalia Edelman has since expanded her business into a larger location, enabling her to add an area for laser treatments that target everything from excess hair to leg veins. She also found space for Little Miracles, a separate salon where kids up to age 9 can get haircuts with supervision from parents and invisible friends moonlighting as style consultants.
Floor-to-ceiling windows spill sunlight across Liz Lanza’s contemporary salon, splashing golden rays over high-vaulted ceilings and the sleek track lighting that takes its place once the sun goes down. The day-spa area provides a tranquil retreat where clients can disappear for a focused energy treatment such as the Amethyst quartz-covered Biomat surface, which emits healing far-infrared rays and negative ions that scare ailments away with pessimistic comments on life. Spa-goers can also slide beneath the white linens of a treatment bed as an aesthetician coaxes radiant skin to the surface with traditional European facials and technologically enhanced treatments including Bio-Ultimate Facelift, a combination of microcurrent’s low level energy and the collagen-stimulating infrared rays of an LED photofacial rejuvenation treatment.
The color blue comes in many shades, be it periwinkle, powder blue, or baby blue. Should you name a shade of blue, there's a good chance that color graces the walls of MLO Salon. In an effort to channel the calming, peaceful feeling of water, trickling streams, and leaky faucets that drip to the tune of "Row, Row, Row Your Boat," MLO’s owner, Maria Orbinati, latched onto a blue color palette and never looked back. The end result was a calming, modern feel—yet one set in elegant relief by Greek columns and arches. Almost as an homage to the décor, the staff performs a deep hydration facial to mitigate wrinkles with a hyaluronic system. But this relaxing environment serves as an ideal locale for spa services beyond just facials; the team also renders hair, makeup, and nail treatments.
A quaint, powder-blue building houses Donatella's Salon & Day Spa, an oasis of pampering that beckons weary patrons with promises of health and beauty from head to toe. The staff welcomes guests by first ushering them to a changing room, where they can slip into a robe and slippers or a comfortable San Diego Chicken ensemble. Before relishing in a cellulite-reducing, toning vacuum massage or an anti-aging facial, patrons can indulge in the spa's rainfall shower equipped with massage jets, then take time out for themselves in the aromatherapy sauna. A quiet room allows for more time to relax, meditate, or read. As an Aveda concept salon, Donatella's utilizes plant-sourced products, such as textured organic marshmallow-root lotions, to leave skin feeling rejuvenated and refreshed.
