The Midwest Rock-n-Roll Express smuggles arena legends Styx, REO Speedwagon, and Ted Nugent into the Mid-America Center with an inestimable cargo of sing-along classics. Styx has sparked the third rail since 1972 with prog-rock sensationalism, bolstering lighter-fluid epics such as "Come Sail Away" and "Babe" with complex riffs from crystalline synthesizers intertwined with power-chord crescendos and noodling from guitar giant Tommy Shaw. With founding frontman and falsetto specialist Kevin Cronin at the helm, fellow Prairie State juggernaut REO Speedwagon fills the stage with passionate chartbusters that made waterbed salesmen rich, from romantic ballads such as “Keep On Loving You" to the spurned-lover kiss-off "Take It on the Run." Kicking off the show, "Motor City Madman" and expert game hunter Ted Nugent revs his buzzsaw guitar through classics such as "Cat Scratch Fever" and "Stranglehold," all while protecting the audience from wild boars.

The Omaha Rollergirls joust elbow-to-elbow with territorial rival Mid Iowa during a late-season, hard-hitting double-header. Founded in 2006 and owned by the skaters themselves, the club has surged to an impressive seventh-place ranking in the South Central region of the Women's Flat Track Derby Association. Instilling a sense of hometown pride by painting their stomachs with the mayor's name, fans of any age can cheer on the Rollers' two teams—the Midwest-focused AAA squad and the more experienced, travelling All-Stars—during a pair of bouts on May 19, both of which feature two 30-minute periods separated by a brief intermission. As Axl Rogue, Ima Firestarter, and the rest of the Rollergirls soar around the track collecting points, referees police the action, sending troublemakers to the penalty box for dangerous infractions such as tripping, blocking from behind, and littering the track with thousands of marbles.
