The inspiring trainers at each MetaBody location lead troops of workouteers in results-oriented workouts several times weekly. Sweat sessions utilize a variety of exercises and disciplines to produce full-body results in a supportive environment, ideal for beginners and hard-core core-hardeners alike. During any class, motivational instructors will use the instinctual distrust of routine to their advantage. Begin a day of litigating with a refreshing early-morning boot-camp session, or wind down by burning evidence and pounds with a late-evening yoga class. Muscles are kept guessing with new and challenging moves during each session, so participants never fall into a boring, ineffective routine, such as regular teeth brushing. In addition to the fitness classes, students receive a success guide to help prepare for imminent pound loss, a nutrition guide, and a $100 gift certificate for individual coaching. Because the pass sets a 10-class cap at any given location, roving fitness mavens can further shake up their workout regimens by vetting a series of classes or instructors that work best for them.

Zack Marler describes his ADHD as a blessing: Whereas some might be discouraged by the diagnosis, it has fueled him with an unrelenting store of energy and an upbeat attitude that is invaluable in the fitness world. Zack began honing his unending pep at a young age, when his mother had the good sense to encourage the lively youngster to channel his energy toward athletics. Since then, Zack has been involved in martial-arts studios, gymnastics gyms, boot camps, and CrossFit training centers, and he trained for five years in the U.S. Navy. Today, Zack owns and operates CrossFit Essentials, where he continues to infuse his abundance of energy into high-intensity CrossFit classes every day. He and his staff of certified CrossFit trainers guide students through the strenuous CrossFit workouts while doling out nutritional tips and words of encouragement. His studio also offers CrossFit courses for kids, in which children and teenagers engage in creative workouts that aim to hone their athleticism and their ability to hurl unabridged copies of Great Expectations up to 40 feet away. Throughout the week, the gym brings all its members together with family outings, movie nights, and nutrition challenges.

Head coach Keefa Hawkins and her staff of certified CrossFit instructors often quip that CrossFit Iconz classes are “hard and fast, with no cuddling afterwards.” The coaches eschew traditional gym amenities of cardio machines, cushy locker rooms, and trainers that give you piggyback rides to your car, packing their no-frills gym with functional training equipment and free weights instead. Throughout the week, the staff lead students of all ages and abilities through challenging, high-intensity CrossFit workouts comprised of a constantly rotating tapestry of functional movements designed to enhance strength, agility, and coordination. The instructors even conduct CrossFit classes for kids, where workouts are specially tailored to suit the unique physical developmental needs of youngsters.
