The Little Gym fosters the healthy growth of children by allowing them to progress at their own pace in a nonthreatening, nurturing environment. As wee ones from 4 months to 12 years-old tackle challenges, overcome fears, and learn to confidently express their opinions about Platonic theory, The Little Gym's original music graces their ears and supports their lessons. The month includes four classes that let tots develop through weekly, age-specific curriculum, with programs including pre-school/kindergarten gymnastics, dance, sports-skills development, and karate.
Hot Yoga Inc. likes to see you sweat. Not due to exhaustion or struggle, but because the perspiration caused by their classes encourages mental tranquility, muscle toning, and physical detoxification. Hot Yoga Inc. sends warmth deep into the skin and tissues instead of just decorating their studio with a bunch of Sun stickers. These higher temperatures help foster a greater range of motion as students of all skill levels follow a flowing series of yoga postures. Basic Hatha classes soothe the mind with a rush of endorphins while losing weight and improving flexibility, and Power Yoga pushes students with more intense workouts that build strength.
In her own words, Adina Roberts has dedicated her life to horses—in 2009, she even quit her job as an executive to work with them full-time. She'd been offering lessons on the side for years before that, but finally decided it was time to totally immerse herself in her passion. At Punk Rock Pony, she focuses all of her attention on training and teaching kids and beginner adults how to ride, as well as taking special care of ponies—including a friendly newborn who loves visitors—and problem horses with a history of covering stable walls in graffiti. She holds all of these lessons on a large acreage brimming with wildlife such as rabbits and oxes, providing an idyllic arena for people to connect with nature and the majestic steeds. For more advanced riders, she also offers the unique experience of riding "naked," a challenging style in which the horse is bareback and bridle-less.
Rebecca Duty, Tahoma Athletic Club's regional manager, drew from her 15-year career in the fitness industry to engineer the ideal gym. She brought in Precor cardio equipment?including treadmills, elliptical machines, bikes, and steppers?then filled the cycle studios with Star Trac stationary bikes. She picked out Paramount plate-loaded equipment, Hammer Strength training machines, TRX equipment, and Iron Grip free weights. Duty calibrated everything with convenience in mind, down to the video-monitored childcare area. Since a TV perches on every piece of cardio equipment, parents can readily tune in and watch their tots between episodes of Suddenly Susan.
In addition to leading personal-training sessions, Tahoma Athletic Club's instructors lead group exercise classes such as TRX Suspension Training and yoga. Guests can also bronze in the Maple Valley location's SunMaster tanning beds or Lakeland's Montego Bay standup units.
Lake Wilderness Golf Course is cleaved through tunnels of towering fir trees between Wilderness Lake and Lake Lucerne. Measuring 5,292 yards, the course is comprised of narrow fairways that make up for their lack of length with slender safe zones, causing many players to put their golf balls on a pre-round diet. Upon holing out on the last green, groups can saunter over to the 19th Hole Grill to pair appetizers and exaggerated hole-in-one stories with post-round drinks.
