From the outside it looks like a single-family home, complete with a brick chimney jutting from the roof and a garage in back. But since 1979, the only occupants of the house have been the barbers, stylists, and aestheticians of Shear Dimensions. The staff is populated by such veterans as Pat Petronio, a barber who's been cutting hair for more than 40 years. Elsewhere on staff you'll find licensed massage therapist Donna Celona, who is well-versed not only in massage techniques, but in linguistics as well; the Brazilian native speaks five languages fluently, and can perform four distinct types of massages.
Salon KG occupies the first floor of a small 19th-century manor that's mostly unchanged. Natural light floods through large windows onto an original Spicer stove and hand-carved fireplaces replete with beautiful italian tiles. Original accents that couldn't be salvaged are repurposed, such as the old staircase, which was fashioned into a modern reception desk. But don't let the classic accents fool you— every KG stylist is up to date on the latest cut and coloring techniques. Guests may also request spray-tanning sessions or swift brow waxes or retreat to the library turned mani-pedi room for views of the lush garden patio.
Peer into the window of Thomas Michaels Salon, and you might see Erika, an experienced stylist who can transform dull, shapeless locks into chic and modern styles. Armed with a battery of TiGi, Paul Mitchell, and Redken products, the skilled artist moves around a black styling chair, lopping off split ends, reinventing color, and even smoothing curls with the Keratin Complex smoothing therapy and a bullwhip. Across from her station, Erika’s colleagues lead beauty initiatives of their own, providing OPI mani-pedis and facial and waxing treatments for both men and women.
His tool belt stocked with scissors, serums, and 19 years of experience, Sergei of Domani Hair Studio treats clients in his styling chairs to expert hair services. One of his specialties is the Helix method of cutting, which is designed to sculpt a fuller, wavier look. Sergei also specializes in applying meticulous, barely detectable MicroTip hair extensions, and he has been honored with industry awards for excellence in his field.
Salon Valente offers a variety of beautifying spa services. Stylists pay particular attention to personality and face shape while skillfully snip hair into cuts for women, men, and children. They add bursts of color with full or partial foils and also offer corrective color and root retouches. Other services available at the salon include hair extensions, manicures, pedicures, and waxing.
As one of the stylists at The Beauty Lounge at Magnolia Salon, Karen Silva is an expert at trimming and treating hair. Her haircuts remove dead ends before she styles strands with a flat iron, curling iron, or iron fist. She also performs color services to add dimension and applies texturizers to create more believable beach waves than dunking your head in a lobster tank does.
