Touch of Pure Joy Massage & Day Spa situates itself as an oasis for physical relaxation, and has relaxed clients with its signature therapies since 1999. A one-hour hot-stone massage gives stressed clients the opportunity to unwind and enjoy an utterly unrushed experience as aromatherapeutic oils perfume the air and stones send warmth deep into muscles. For those experiencing chronic pain or the discomforts of pregnancy, deep-tissue, applied kinesiology, and prenatal massages forge a truce between muscles caught in a tug-of-war match between the office chair and that recliner in the office lobby. When they've explored the spa's extensive repertoire of relaxing massages, clients can extend their day spa mini vacations with a skin-perfecting facial, or bid adieu to sandpaper skin with hand and foot salt scrubs.

Prominent on the Massage Therapy Wellness Center's homepage is a triangle that represents the body, mind, and spirit, which stands proudly as a symbol of complete health. Like this symbol, the three therapists at the Center approach wellness through their three distinctive specialties: massage and energy work, life coaching, and vibrational healing and meditation. Each of Karla Smith's massages is customized to individual physical and emotional needs via a number of modalities, including hot stone, myofascial therapy, and clinical aromatherapy. Janet Ellis leads inspirational workshops and coaching sessions that help people conjure positive changes in their lives, and Kenny Kolter, who has participated in more than 500 gong-meditation and vibrational-healing workshops, helms the Center's sound-therapy branch with rattles, Tibetan bowls, and cruelly deceptive dinner gongs.

Artistic by nature, Ujamaa Shelton initially pursued a career in photography. Then, economic forces nudged him toward a change. As he pondered his future, Shelton realized that his passion for creativity and his desire to help others was perfectly suited to massage therapy. Shelton earned his massage license and promptly opened Myokneads with his wife, Kim Higgs. Today, the duo kneads sinews using Swedish, deep-tissue, and trigger-point massage techniques at their private studio, in their clients' homes, and at the top of human pyramids. In addition to tailoring his sessions with stretching, Shelton creates his own music to encourage clients' relaxation.
