Like a real jungle, Scooter’s Jungle is full of vibrant colors and potential for adventure; unlike a real jungle, however, most of its attractions are inflatable. Named for its tropical theme, the indoor family-fun center’s inflatables range from gargantuan slides and a zip line to an obstacle course, where kids can build the agility necessary to finally outrun their shadows. For a break from the pillowy structures, kids can play ping-pong and air hockey at the free game tables, or nosh on pizza during private birthday parties.

Outside AdventurePlex's 16,000-square-foot facility, a 35-foot-high rock-climbing wall stretches across 1,630 square feet of climbing area so that families of grapplers can train to scale mountain summits or tickle the Statue of Liberty's chin. A ropes course similarly fosters teambuilding and confidence 20 feet above the ground, while a flourishing garden of herbs and vegetables helps kids understand the origins of what goes into their bellies. The Courtside Café completes the food's life cycle with a menu of leafy greens, wraps, juices, and American staples. Indoors, a five-level AdventureRoom play structure preps wee ones for a future of healthy living and boardroom obstacle courses with its network of mazes, tunnels, slides, and ball pits. In 2013, the play structure won a Best of the Beach award from Easy Reader for Best Indoor Play Facility.

The AdventurePlex crew curates a variety of activities, including birthday parties, fitness classes, and summer adventure camps that keep muscles and minds engaged in a fun, safe environment. Parents, meanwhile, can surf the Web on AdventurePlex's WiFi—but adult-only yoga and body-sculpting classes let them find some "me time" without taking clones out for a romantic night on the town.

With hands gripped to the wheels of karts capable of cresting 45 miles per hour, up to 12 racers hum around the hairpin turns and straightaways of K1 Speed's indoor track during adrenaline-spiking sprints toward the podium. This brand of excitement can be found at all 15 locations, where racers eschew the fumes and inflammatory skywriting of gas kart exhaust for European, eco-friendly electric karts designed to instantly accelerate out of curves, which are bordered by safety barriers that absorb impacts. To keep everyone in the chase, dialed-down junior karts (available at select locations) safely carry tiny drivers between the height of 48" and 58".

Mulligan Family Fun Center's three locations surround parents and kids with sprawling smorgasbords of kinetic entertainment. Outside, each park's sunny grounds encourage healthy activity with putt-testing miniature-golf courses and the hairpin turns of go-kart tracks. In the batting cages, aspiring sluggers test their swing while recognized major-league sluggers test their disguise against the park's do-not-admit posters. Back inside, climbers scale the rock wall’s vertical challenges and friends battle friends in laser tag’s intense light-based combat.

Each location also has its own signature activities. The Torrance location's rookie go-karts, for example, enable younger drivers to take a turn down the track, whereas the Palmdale location boasts a longer, 1,500-foot track for children and adults alike. At the Murrieta location, mini-bowling offers bumpers and kid-size balls, letting the whole family angle for strikes, and warm weather opens water slides so that wee ones can prevent their engines from overheating.

Sky Zone fully embodies the concept of bouncing off the walls, as the facility is lined with gigantic trampolines on the floors and angled trampolines on adjacent walls. Ideal for people of all ages, shapes, and physical abilities, the trampolines unite to form one massive sea of bouncy terrain, upon which visitors can play or compete with hanging basketball hoops. Sky Zone is home to 3-D dodgeball, an interactive twist on the classic playground sport that has teams jumping and dodging at new heights. Additionally, the park is great for birthdays and special events. Serious boot camps and aerobics courses allow guests to get into shape and have fun at the same time, unlike running from a stampede of buffalo.

Pacific Park’s attractions celebrate Santa Monica Pier’s history with classic rides that run with modern technology. The Pacific Wheel uses solar energy to circle 130 feet into the air, where fist pounds from the man in the moon and scenic views of the coastline await. The energy-efficient attraction is 1 of 12 rides, which include classics, a roller coaster, and a four-story tower drop. Visitors can earn prizes at midway games, refuel at the food court, and get their adrenaline pumping on the rock wall or beach bounce.
