Fitness, nutrition, style and community come together at Balans. We set out to create a beautiful and inspiring destination. We are filling it with great people and excellent, certified instructors. If you put in 30 minutes of nonstop effort, GRIT class can reshape your body faster than squeezing into the spice cupboard. High-intensity interval training is at the core of each GRIT class, which focuses on strength, plyometrics, or cardio. The intervals trigger optimal calorie burning by pushing bodies to their breaking point in brief spurts of energy. At FLY Fitness Inspiration Studio, GRIT classes are one of the freshest additions to the group fitness schedule. But they're far from the only option. Spinning, barre fitness, TRX suspension training, and Sh'bam (a dance workout) all promise the same energetic environment and quick calorie burning.
The world is a playground, according to the stunt artists and gymnasts who helm Urban Evolution. At this CNN- and Channel 11 WBAL -featured gym, there are no treadmills or stationary bikes. Instead, dance-like movements and acrobatic leaps propel visitors toward apexes of fun and fitness. To ready physiques for such feats, ropes, trapezes, and gymnastics equipment facilitate body-weight exercises that build balance, flexibility, and coordination. Seasoned instructors oversee the training space, teaching students how to jump, climb, crawl, and tumble as safely as possible during movement-focused classes such as Parkour, Free Running, and Aerial Acrobatics. Kettlebells and other functional strength-training tools power UrbanFit conditioning workouts, which give participants the brawn to perform everyday tasks such as pushing lawnmowers, lifting grocery bags, and drawing sleighs filled with lazy reindeer.

A portion of mountain biking, a dose of trail running, a pinch of trekking, and several gallons of watersports. This is Rev3 Adventure's race director's recipe for creating their adventure runs?and the training regimens to prepare for them?throughout the year. The races can be intense, as participants might switch between mountain biking and canoeing on any given day, but athletes can choose an adventure that fits their stamina levels, participating in events that last a few hours or a few days. For example, the annual Shenandoah Epic Adventure Race incorporates paddling, biking, trekking, and navigating, and competitors can opt to reach all the mandatory checkpoints in 13 hours or hit the additional optional checkpoints in 26 hours, the average number of hours a cat sleeps every day.
Still, the race director says that the organizers and volunteers try to keep their events family-friendly. "We wanted to help families become active in the outdoors," says the race director, "and at the same time, create fun and exciting challenges that will push competitors to their personal limits in a fun and safe environment."
Though people come to Brickhouse Cardio Club - Manassas for the heart-pumping workouts, they stay for the irresistible international rhythms. Zumba tends to have that effect, ensnaring exercisers with its Latin choreography and dance-party vibe. The floors at the Manassas club pulse with 14 Zumba sessions every week, with classes for those just learning the steps and for those hoping to focus their steps to increase muscle tone or accommodate mobility needs. Owner Kenni Powell supplements these Zumba sessions with exercise classes that combine her love of dance with proven methods of muscle toning. Her staff teaches everything from the acrobatic moves of capoeira, a Brazilian martial-arts dance, to the Japanese-inspired circuit training of Tabata Abz, helping clients find fun alternative ways of getting fit without picking fights with a cheetah. Brickhouse Cardio Club also offers classes such as Tabata Abz and Les Mills programs such as Bodypump and Bodycombat.
Since its inception, Brickhouse has blossomed into a franchise, expanding into 25 locations, including some in the United Kingdom, where it hopes to supplant aerobic chimney sweeping. No matter the location, each club hosts its signature workouts in pared-down studios that feature the franchise?s familiar electric-blue and neon-green walls surrounding a stage.
